Protesting 'Bad Conditions' of a Job Better than Yours.
Well, it appears a union has hired some temp workers to protest Wal-Mart. The ironic part is that, for all their blustering about working conditions, the union pays the protestors $6 an hour (in Nevada, which is $1.35 lower than the Washington state minimum wage), give no benefits, no extra pay for standing around for four hours in 100+ degree weather.

Some of the protestors actually had to go inside to buy medicine for the blisters on their feet, walking past the Wal-Mart employees who get an average of over $10 an hour, work in an air-conditioned building, and get 401k and no-cap meidcal insurance. The irony is outrageous.
Here's a choice bit by the United Food and Commercial workers:

The UFCW's website concludes, "Every person working hard for a living earns the right to a decent wage, affordable health care and a voice on the job. But Wal-Mart's greed provides other companies a license to chip away at the rights of working America, influencing everything from wages to working conditions."

Actually hiring people to protest seems to be a bit odd in the first place - no matter what the pay is :inquisitive:
Re: Protesting 'Bad Conditions' of a Job Better than Yours.
Most labor unions in the US have become such a sham. Forcing people to pay dues, whether they want to or not, for unions that support policies and politics that many of the union members don't even agree with.
I was so glad to hear that the AFL-CIO was breaking up. ~

Yes indeed sometimes life is very amusing - stories like this make it even more so. I wonder if the protestors feel like knuckleheads for protesting Wal-Mart. :dizzy2:
