Human Computer Interaction
I have to create a report on HCI at college.
I have done most of it.
I need more info and the internet is nigh on useless. I have a big book about it which is very helpful, but need lots of different sources to get a high grade.
Do you know any good sites? (I have tried google)
Or have any other info?
We have over 10,000 people on the Org, somebody must be good at this stuff.
Thanks. ~
Re: Human Computer Interaction
So in 6 hours this thread has had 9 views (not including me).
This must be the worst thread ever.
Re: Human Computer Interaction
Flesh out a bit more detail on what you need to know.
Text vs GUI?
WASD and mouse vs Game Controller?
Re: Human Computer Interaction
-Help
-documentation
-Layout
-Technical issues
Human factors
-Perception
-experience
-language
-symbols
-software conventions
-culture
-disabilities
Most of it is self-explanatory, so it is hard to research.(if that makes any sense)
I know most of it, but I need references to back what I say. That is the hard part.

Hello Martinus,
I'm in the field of Media Science and may be able to help.
However I'm a bit lost about the focus of your paper.
Is it just a chronological history of HCI development or is it
more sociological focused or are you concentrating on the
technical aspects?
What's your thesis? An abstract might help.
"Computer Lib/Dream Machines" by Ted Nelson is a good starting
point. Doug Engelbart, Alan Kay and Ivan Sutherland are people
that surely need to be mentioned.

Re: Human Computer Interaction
Jakob Nielsen is a guru on usability which is a big part of HCI, and has written several books on the matter.
His relatively ugly but usable website:http://www.useit.com/ could give you some starters.

So are we. :dizzy2:
The teacher said it should be a HCI bible. When we make our program later on in the course we have to justify every decision we make, eg colour, font, layout, and refer back to this report.
I have done most of it, which is good becuase it has to be in tomorrow.
Re: Human Computer Interaction
I finished the report and I was the only person to hand it in.~
