EB and the 1.3 patch...afew questions.

1:Will EB work with the patch? IIRC you were able to switch all of the1.1 work to 1.2, right?

Though i must admit that there would be some problems with unit balance since spears and cavalry charges have been changed. it might even mean having to redo the entire stat system~:eek:

2:Are there any plans to delay the release and just go for an earlier 1.3 release? EB is amazing, but im not sure if it's worth load/save...Though i could just play one 1.3 version and one EB...

Not everyone's got BI yet though (it's only just been released!), let alone had time to thoroughly test the new features.

What khelvan means is 1.3 isn't out yet for RTW.
We won't force people to buy BI. Since this mod is for RTW. ~;)

Exactly. But what i want to know is if, hypotheticly, 1.3 fixed many large gameplay problems(That a mod couldn't fix, something like the AI or pathfinding) and wouldn't require the mod to be totally reworked except for the stats and maybe afew other things, would the EB team delay the release and wait for 1.3?

Either way, most people(Me included) are going to play it none the less, but it would be nice if it could be played with out load/save....and with out needing BI either ~:)

Unfortunately there are indications that it may not work because maps are processed differently from RTW (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showt...=1#post942653).

So unless CA tells us how to generate the file map_heights.hgt the only thing that can be done is to add new provinces to the existing BI map. Which means maps like RTR, MM2 or EB won't work.

And for a BI era mod, I would never agree to giving the Sassanians a fraction of their land that CA gives. I just wouldn't be accurate. So I'd have to say, even if we wanted a later era mod, we should stick with RTW... But that's just my opinon.

Didn't you have to axe everything and start over with RTW as well?

i wouldnt say 1.3 but 1.5 or future patches (remember 1.4 is for BI)

dont know about your incompatibilities but... pff, i wouldnt like to play BI (very historical accuarate) but very bugged to

my opinion -> move to lattest patch even if this means delay the game to make new maps or etc

Patch for updating non-BI RTW to v1.3 is now available. Given that it includes useful fixes, not the least of which is the (in)famous load/save bug, a lot of people who haven't bought the expansion are going to get it. I sure hope that EB can eventually be made 1.3 compatible. If it can't then I fear that many players (the non-fanatics who don't regulate the EB forums) will never bother to give the mod a try, just because they'd need to reinstall RTW to get back to 1.2.
