Need help with rome total war editor problem

Hi i was creating a new unit on caligula and i went to my c/programfiles/activision/rometotalwar/data/a some sort of text file and it must of had unit stuff in it and i edited a egyption peasent and i tryed loading the game but it exited to the desktop please help.And please help me on wht file i should open when trying to edit a unit thaxs.:help: :bow:

what you should do is run the game with the show_err function.

If you have a shortcut to rome on your desktop, change the target from:

"C:\Program Files etc etc"

to

"C:\Program Files etc etc" -show_err

then run the game

The game should then give you an error message when it crashes, which should help you find the error.

Well i had some errs about what you said to do so i installed the program again and now i need help with editing units.I want to edit units that are maby some weak unit so if the unit has problems in the game it least it will be some weak unit not a good one.Please give me instructions on how to start im new to caligula.

Please note that it's not for use with BI/1.3 yet, a new version is in the works.

thanks now i want to learn about how to skin and make stuff beacause i want to make a world war 2 mod but maby i should start off easy.Please help.

Sadly you can't make skins in Caligula (though I am sure you have worked that out already), for that will you need a software title like Photoshop or Paintshop Pro.

You can use Caligula to add new units on the data file side though (which is also important to any mod). I made a guide to adding a new unit (find it linked in the link I gave before), and most likely you will be interesting in playing around with the data on the first tab you are presented with, as well as the weapon and armour tabs (a good place to start, it's the most straightforward).

Where do i save my unit on caligula do i go to save unit data or do i just got to save changes.The last time i saved the unit data the game would not load at all it would just load to the first page with the rights then it would crash and when i just said add new unit and clicked save changes the unit wouldnt be there.Please help.
