Editing Valour gained in battle

Is there anyways to do this? Basically I want to increase the chances of a unit that fights well gaining valour in a battle.

I have just been reading thru crusader unit and i came across this.

"The amount of kills this unit must make to 'level up'"

Am I on the right track if change this number could it affect how much valour a unit gains?


btw how would the game keep track of how many kills a unit has gotten?

I haven't played around with that number but it should impact on how quickly or slowly units gain valor.
