Just a question - I know some boards have the ablity to block IP addresses to prevent the type of activity that one particuler knucklehead has decided to do.
Can you block this individual from being able to register his attacks on Beriut with his flooding of new registered members?
Hmm it should be possible to block someone's IP adress, if that is what you
They did that with Brutal_Dictatorship AKA Horsarcher ( he had various accounts )some time ago.
So yes it could be done.

If he's using a static IP, sure. If he's on dynamic dialup, you'd have to ban the whole band (including anyone else with the same ISP), and if he's using anonymous proxies you'd have to block entire lists of unrelated addresses. So it's not always that easy.Quote:

ive known him for many years, And some 1 must have aggravated him severely to provoke this reaction.
he contributed lots to the forum, And because of 1 mod who decided it was ok to be racist about french people but not Black people,
And who started to throw personal insults about his spelling and grammar. this situation has occurred.
I know of Many people "who will remain nameless," That do not agree with the Underhanded methods of this assistant mod.,
And I am shure that this Assistant mod Will cause Situations like this in the future,

I doubt he will stop until an apology is issued by the Assistant moderator in question,
And theres no point asking me to talk to him,
because I doubt he will listen.

I know staff wants us to give the 'stupid spammer' no attention. But I will, as he is my friend. If I go to frontroom, start a new thread saying certain person is an 'Asshole', I will receive 1 warning point, the thread will get closed and I will have to apologize. If he does the same to a moderator(after being insulted), he gets banned. Isn't that a bit... twisted?
Anways, this post is not insulting at all. I am only saying that I disagree with how staff acted. If I do receive a warning for this, I don't mind. I'll leave then anyway.

First off, I told Shambles he had to remove a joke about black people that I found, IMHO, to be racist. There were also posted complaints as well as PM complaints about the "black joke"
Shambles took it down.
I was then berated with PMs by Shambles saying there were blonde jokes and that they should have to be removed since he had to remove his. I disagreed, saying there is no connection between blonde jokes and racist black jokes. My opinion only, but it was my call to make. I received no other complaints at all about the blonde jokes.
Shambles disagreed and re-posted the racist "black joke".
I told Shambles he was fully entitled to take his case to BKS or Tosa if he disagreed with me but until one of the chief mods gave him the OK, the "black joke" would have to be remain edited out. I told him that ignoring a staff edit request was a warning point offence, even during an appeal of an edit to the senior staff.
He refused to edit because I refused to remove the blonde jokes. He said he would rather get the warning points then take orders from me. I'm not sure, but I think a mod gave him two warning points for this. The blonde jokes were removed as well by the senior staff after Shambles complained. The French army joke (which was mentioned only after several PMs about only the blonde jokes), was removed as well.
Then started a series of "you're a retard" PMs from Shambles to me. I wrote back that I appreciated his attentions, and that the spelling of his "retard" PMs was less than perfect. Was I snarky? Yes. But in the face of the ongoing "retard" PMs I remained polite. The politeness seems to have upset him and then I received a series of hacker threat PMs to myself and the Org. as a whole, PMs saying I was posted on the Org. map (posts which contained pornographic pictures), and that the Org. would be attacked by multiple false accounts and spam attacks.
These PMs, all copied and registered, were available to the senior staff for review.
The Org. is now being spammed with false accounts, pornographic pictures, and hate threads. I'm not accusing anyone and I haven't mentioned anyone's name nor will I. All I have asked is that the attacks be ignored.

Regardless of the situation that created it, posting pornographic pictures should be a bannable offense.

No matter what happened posting stuff like that and attempting to hack is not the way to do things, it just shows your immaturity and inability to handle situations. Post a complaint in the watchtower if you fell strongly about an injustice, posting crap takes away any case you have. Although I must say Beruit is not a bad mod in any way.

Sorry Beirut, but in my interpretation of forum rules(I hope that is correct) I really think you acted wrong. I agree with him that all 'jokes' should've been removed. And I can think of another patron which wouldn't delete his own misplaced 'joke' if others wouldn't have to do the same. me So I disagree with the 1st 2 warning points given to him.Quote:

I'm not only not perfect, I'm far from perfect. This means my Modding is less than perfect as well. Obviously I am going to make mistakes. That's what the senior staff is there for. I not only suggested Shambles take his case to BKS and Tosa, I encouraged him to.
I've been spanked by the senior staff before and I will be again. If I make a mistake I am bound to follow their rules just like everyone else.
But to threaten the entire Org. as Shambles did (I have the registered PMs to prove it) is not only out of line, but hurts everyone here, not just me.

This is one stupid situation to be in. It's kind of funny though.

It is indeed ridiculous, and another ridiulous poster as of late is the poster who has been wanting to post in other forums but has instead just built up into a rage and outbursted foul language into the Hail! New members thread. I tried calming down the individual by informing him/her to when you will become a member etc. but he/she seemed to just ignore me and try and insult me instead. It's not that I'm bothered, just informing the community. ~:)

I think you don't really understand. - Shambles received two warning points because he refused to edit out the 'joke', because others also made racist jokes and didn't have to edit. He got mad and sent several crap PM's to Beirut, which on his turn made an insult back to Shambles about his spelling and grammar. After all that, Shambles became so outraged. Of course to do such things is still wrong, but it explains (a bit) why he did it.Quote:
