A racist problem

:bow: i'd like to hear your oppinions

there are 2 guys. one is a racist the other is a semi racist (e.g very and little)

they are continuasly making racist jokes. some very annoying some one-ear-in-other-ear-out jokes. well i'm a person that has a high limit. i can take alot of people and till now ive just ignored them. but theyre getting worse, and i'm afraid that if someone doesnt stop m now it might be too late.

option 1: i just hit them in their face when they make a other nasty joke
option 2: i keep ignoring them and do nothing
option 3: ill let the class handle it
option 4: ill tell the teachers

problem 1: theyre good friends a good friend of mine, so i dont want to hit them
problem 2: i'm running out of patience and my limit is almost reached
problem 3: i dont like snitching nor i like the teachers, and i know it wouldnt help much and i only have to talk embarrising convos with teachers etc

Ignore them. If jokes aren't about your race then let them have their opinions -- as long as they don't go about attacking folk.

I got a chinese friend that calls me a hill billy/redneck all the time. Makes fun of black people. Says all white people are gay......And when I finally say "shut up you !@#$ing chink(I don't know if i spelled it right) I got a detention for "racial remarks" ~:joker:

I am not shy of making or laughing about jokes that are...controversial. Hell, my favourite comedian is Hans Teeuwen :D Though I don't make racist jokes often, that would include those too, as well as woman-unfriendly jokes or jokes that are simply insensitive. It's not that I don't take racism seriously, it's that I don't take jokes seriously.
However I understand that other people don't feel that way, and I only make those kind of jokes when with people that regognise jokes for what they're worth and be able to laugh about it.
So I would either ignore them if were you and if that doesn't work, tell them that you don't like that sort of humor and ask them to tone it down when they're talking to you.

They probably don't mean any harm since they are still your friends. Have some sense of humour.

Are the mentioned racist comments/jokes aimed at you personally, or a good friend of yours, or at particular ethnic groups in general?

At the least, don't bottle up such feelings of anger. Usually that only leads to trouble later on, when it can all come up in one big outburst. Share your problems with someone, be it a family member, friends, a teacher you respect, or if you feel up to it the 2 guys themselves. Often you'll find it helps to talk to someone about it; even if it doesn't provide an instant solution it helps to get things off your chest, to know that at least someone knows there's a problem. If no-one knows no-one can help.

When I was in high school, and also in Uni, my main buddies would sometimes show prejudice in comments when we were hanging out privately and relating stories to each other. While I wouldn't describe any of us as "racist,"sometimes we adopt prejudiced attitudes resulting from day-to-day events that annoy us, which involve particular ethnic groups. These attitudes sometimes surface in the way we speak about them.

When we were just hanging out privately, it never bothered me; I, too, spoke with prejudice at times when someone or a group of people from a particular ethnic group got seriously on my nerves. However, I refrained from doing so in public venues where others outside of our group could overhear. My friends weren't always as considerate. If I had taken a calm, rational approach to sharing my discomfort with them--"Hey guys, I get uncomfortable when you speak with prejudice in public, where others might overhear,"--they would have probably snickered and said something to the effect of "tough titty says the kitty, deal with it," and gone back to their beers and derisive banter. So instead, I hit them where it counted from their point of view--their public image. "My ... I'm sure the ladies at that table are thoroughly impressed with your sensitivity and tolerance guys," or something to that effect. Then, more often than not, they would become self-conscious of their behavior and chill out.

When I want to affect the behavior of someone else, I do my best to avoid thinking of them in terms of how I think and act, and consider how they think and act, and what approach would most likely yield the desired results.

For those interested in the psychology of this kind of stuff, consider the topic of Neurolinguistic Programming. Practitioners of this never cease to amaze me (or, in the case of those without scruples, scare me), with their extraordinary ability to perceive and interpret accurately, communicate, relate, and affect change in others.

How about a different option?

Option 5: Tell them the racist jokes are getting really stale/boring you to death. If that has no impact, you might even mention that some of the jokes are really cheesing you off or making *them* look stupid.

But probably best to do it in measured steps rather than all at once release of pent up irritation. You might find that one of them is also bored with it/just participating to "fit in."

These are your friends after all. If you can't tell them what is on your mind, then they really aren't the sort of friends you want to keep. At some point you might want to start distancing yourself from folks like this if they persist. Do you really want others lumping you in the same group with them if they continue?

Option 6: Just talk to the less racist one about it to see where he stands. If you let him know it is bugging you, he might stop, and the two of you might be able to cork the more vocal one by walking away when he sounds off. He'll get the picture eventually.

If you cannot introduce them to a reasonable point of view , then introduce their head to the floor .

Just give them a verbal smack down. Or just explain to them the KKK, Hammerskins, and Aryan Nation and tell them they'd fit in nicely. People generally don't like that, and if they do they have bigger things to deal with.

like: they were annoying me with some small but stupid remaks, so i painted his face black with a marker, the guy totally flipped went to wash his face clean and when he came he said: thanx, now i know how it is to be a slave like you. i ignored him and he he said it again: i know how it feels to be shit...and i would have choked him, if my friend didnt told me to calm down.

the teacher heard it all i think, but did nothing...though i'm not sure if he did heard it. he's a good guy, helping me with my writingcarrier

Perhaps you should tell your friend that his friends are fools. Then hope he can see it too.

Did you tell your friend how these people make you feel? Has he witnessed some of the behavior you mentioned? What you described them as saying, the ‘slave’ remark, is truly disgusting.

You must truly value his friendship, to keep up with such indignity on his friends’ behalf. But if it is really hurtful, then tell you friend that it is taking a toll on you. If he is indifferent to your suffering, then perhaps he is not a good friend.

Just belt the more racist one in the throat, one time. They may be good friends of one of your friends, but that doesn't make them your friends. However, beating them up would paint you as being overly aggressive when yuo are just angry. One good slug to the larynx, on the other hand, will scare the hell out of them and get them to shut up.

If it's that much of a big deal, stop being around them.

Try and keep away from those guys as much as possible. If they're in your class, it's probably difficult to avoid them?

Well i wouldn't get that wound up about it. If you don't like it just tell 'em to shut up, if they persist knock seven shades out of 'em or simply ignore it. My favourite comedian is Roy "chubby" brown. You won't know who that is but most british patrons might have heard of him. Thats probably why i wouldn't get that wound up about it.

Sometimes jokes can be very hurtful dude, just rip the piss back out of them
