World Leader: "It's the end of the world!"
Well, if I am the world leader, that is.
Now that I have your attention, what do you think? Is it the end of the world as prophesized? Should we all go have a party and celebrate Christ's triumphant return over the heathens or should we all cower in fear from an angry and vengeful God?
Think about it: What if?
Some facts:
The Tsunami wipes out half of SouthEast Asia, Massive Hurricanes destroy towns and cities while killing thousands, catastrophic earthquakes decimate whole regions and kill many more thousands, the world is on the brink of nuclear war, while Islamic fundmaentalists seek to destroy civilization in a worldwide religious war... oh and to top it off, let's include the potential realistic pandemic of a mutated easily-tranferable avian flu that will kill millions.
Are you ready to die?

Re: World Leader: "It's the end of the world!"
Well I would go back a hundred years or so... Krakatoa, Influenza, WWI...
The worlds population is getting larger and larger, hence it is logical that the disasters are killing more and more just by the fact that population density is increasing.

I blame it all on female suffrage.

I'll never know until the moment comes.
But as this is clearly a joke, then: I must say that the real end of the world will be in about 2 min... when I go to the bathroom...Prepare yourselves for some shaking.:scared: . (sorry for the real bad joke ~;) )

Re: World Leader: "It's the end of the world!"
Didn't St John of Patmos also mention fire from the heavens and winged scorpions with human faces?
Until I see some human scorpion hybrids, I won't be getting a sandwichboard and ranting on street corners quite yet...

Re: World Leader: "It's the end of the world!"
Don't worry, the world will still be here tomorrow, so you still have to pay the bills....... ~;)

Re: World Leader: "It's the end of the world!"
World leader? Isn't that Bush?
Bush: "We have a saying in Texas, I know it's in Tennessee, probably in Texas, it goes, scare you once, shame on me, scare you twice shame on... shame on... .... a dead guy can't be scared again, [bush laugh] he he he![/bush laugh]"

Re: World Leader: "It's the end of the world!"
There do seem to be a lot of fanatics out to get rid of scientific progress all over the place.
Normally using satillite phones, advanced missile systems and GPS of course. Or the internet. Hypocrits.

Re: World Leader: "It's the end of the world!"
Humanity is giving Mother Earth indigestion. Pretty soon she's gonna fart big (might even be a wet one). The gas will pass, and momma will go on doin' what she's been doin'. I would guess "no worries" (for her, at least ...muahaha BP).

Re: World Leader: "It's the end of the world!"
If the Black Death wiping out 1/3 of Europe and the various extinction events that killed 90%+ of all living creatures were not the end of the world, then this isn't.

Re: World Leader: "It's the end of the world!"
If a billion people die within a year, then it could be worth considering, but not now. ~;p
And well uhm appearence of Antediluvians (~;) ) or the Riders of the Apocalypse or other figures connected to doomsday theories might also rise some interest.

Re: World Leader: "It's the end of the world!"
if Ted Nugent makes governor, then the end of the world might not be so bad.
i just saw it on tv; he wants to run.
-
Re: World Leader: "It's the end of the world!"
I'd have been more afraid of the end of the world 20+ years ago, when the Soviet Union and all her nukes were still in force.
Now we've got to be afraid of what? A bunch of Arabs who hate us and an occasional natural disaster? Pffff....

Re: World Leader: "It's the end of the world!"

Quote:
Nugent Considering Run for GovernorHe's flirted with running for political office before, but now the Corpus Christi Caller Times quotes musician Ted Nugent saying, "I'm getting real close to deciding to run for governor of Michigan and that will be determined here with in the next few weeks."
The Miami Herald quotes Nugent on his potential platform: "To show you how radical I am, I want carjackers dead. I want rapists dead. I want burglars dead. I want child molesters dead. I want the bad guys dead. No court case. No parole. No early release. I want 'em dead. Get a gun and when they attack you, shoot 'em."
Though Nugent has released many albums over the years, he is most recently the author of Kill It and Grill It.
Could be interesting.~D
Not sure why it is a Miami rag doing a story on a Michigan election, but who cares.

God is smiting the infidel...
Mother Earth is following through to get rid of the exces folk...
Father Christmas is getting rid of people because his elfs are on strike for having to make too many tays each year...

Re: World Leader: "It's the end of the world!"
Isn't there some nutty sect that thinks the world has in fact ended, and we are all in Hell?
In which case speaking personally Hell is not too bad, although the food could do with some improvement.
On a similarly random theme, has anyone else read "On the Beach" by Nevil Shute? There's been a nuclear war in the 50's, and a big cloud of deadly fall out is slowly making its way from the Northern hemisphere Killing everything in its path. The story is set in Australia as they wait for the radioactivity to reach them and really end the world.
Its a measure of how things have changed since the 50s that everyone remains reasonably normal (albeit obviously rather depressed) rather than all going beserk and trying to kill and eat their neighbours and sleep with their dogs, or possibly vice versa, which is no doubt what would happen if the book was written today.

None of those bothers me the slightest. It`s greater chances for that an Asteroid will hit the Earth and cause apocalypse. We actually have a candidate-rock for that to happen beyond 2030.

Re: World Leader: "It's the end of the world!"
"Things will get worse before they get better."
If the apocalypse is zombie-less, though, I am going to be REALLY pissed.

Re: World Leader: "It's the end of the world!"
Eh not until 2012, this is the warmups ~;) .
Honestly I don't care, if the world starts ending I'll just through a huge party, deflowering for everybody cause we just have a couple of days left.
