Hi guys!Been browsing these forums for a while and am very pleased by the amount of mods being developed by the likes of LK,Paladin et al. Would love the game to be modded to be historically accurate...1092 does this to an extent(love the way you edited out the easy channel link-to stop French invasions) but not sure about castle in Wessex etc.(Mainly Motte n Bailey with a couple of Stone Keeps-London and Rochester). As to my main question ,which again relates to this point, Is it possible to divide up existing regions to make for more historically accurate areas...Wales(North and South-North =Welsh,South=English),Mercia and Northumbria=add marches,Ireland Divide into N,E,W areas..Scotland to have West area as Norwegian K of Isles?(Wasn't till 1130 ish that this became Scottish)...Also various other areas..Guyenne,Poitou,Maine etc.And shouldn't Southern Italy be a Norman Demesne(With a mix of italian and Norman type troops?). Sorry if I,m rambling a bit ...Basically is it possible to move regional borders and assign new regions to existing factions rather than creating new factions?Would this be a way of getting past 108 colours used by game mentioned in one of the threads?
-
On a further note related to this thread! Is it possible to have buldings in regions at the beginning of a Historically accurate campaign mod that are relevant to Documented evidence e.g Cathedral in,say, Normandy without having to have all the pre-requisies of the tech-tree?
-
I believe buildings do need their prerequisites or else the game will crash. I also tried making a historically accurate game but I don't think you can add new regions. I too wish that England had more land areas including the welsh and Northern Marches and East Anglia - all present provinces can and should be split into two smaller components.
Oh well...

Thanks for the reply dclare---Surely there must be some way of doing this?Maybe the Devs can give us a clue? I seem to remember reading a thread that mentioned that provinces are all to do with colours or something(and that borders can be edited-I think someone said they did this?)Rather than adding totally independent new regions that require new colours(which I believe can't be modded it must be possible to move/add borders to existing larger regions and split them as long as they remain original colour-i.e Wales split into North n South but both still rebel? Or is the difficulty in doing this all down to building production etc?

It was a post on the .com forum about editing maps. But now this is lost maby forever...
-
I agree about more lands scotland is 1/3 the land mass of great britain but only gets 1 province hmm
-
If i could get the details of the mapping discussion from the official boards or some pointers/feedback from one of the devs, I could maybe have look at the viability of such(Although DeClare seems to be way ahead of me/and is one of our leading modders! An example of the changes I'd like to see are- Scotland=West(K of the Isles),North(Highlands),South(Lowlands),Wales=North(Native Principality of Gwynedd),South(Anglo-Norman Lands),Ireland=North and West(Native Kingdoms),East=at least for the future(The Anglo-Norman Pale)....... As for England--- Northumbria(Northern Marches and the See of York(Poss. Durham as well?)),Mercia=Welsh March(Including Palitinate of Chester),East Anglia..Possibly 1 further demesne(Southern March-Hereford)...This would be a NNW/SSW/E split and would follow the earlier Anglo-Saxon Earldom division of this area c1066,Wessex(Cornwall,See of Winchester and maybe Kent? France also is open for this rebordering...Aquitaine split into Aquitaine,Poitou and Guyenne...Anjou into Anjou/Maine(possibly add Tours and Blois by taking land from Anjou/Ile de France and Aquitaine???)....Ile de France/Chartres....Flanders/Ponthieu?? Perhaps we should work out the Geography between us and the amount of new areas(If feasible-Must be a way?)

The sections of England probcant be split up. Best just to wait for an expasion and hope against hope that they'll make seperate maps for each country such as England and France.

It IS possible to set buildings in the start position without their prerequisites. I know, I have done it. Nothing to it, just set the buildings in the normal way.
If you think about it, it makes sense because sometimes in game, you get prerequisite buildings destroyed and the game does not crash.
