Galba Claudo System
Oculus Spetimus, Verdun Campaign VI

"Take five Marines, Red Team is moving ahead to take point!" The dense jungle on one side of the track, the broad brown Imeria River on the other. Overhead, two Longsword fighters streaked, followed by four Banshees. Along the road, eight Warthogs and a couple all terrain trucks moved by. Walking around the nose of the parked Blue Team Warthog, the sargeant, or "Booker" as he was called, began drinking from his water pack. So was the rest of Blue Team, including the unfortunate private Arthur Gustavson.
Carrying the MA5B assault rifle, he was stripped down to his body armor, dungarees, olive green overshirt, and army boots, covered in mud and muck. Hanging from his belt were four frag grenades, and a couple ration packs, a combat knife, a pistol, and a couple ammunition clips.
"Why did they call the system Galba Claudo?, nothing Roman!" Rich, a muscular asian man with a short black goatee, spoke as he swatted the mosquito that had landed on his arm.
"Its for the founder, he decided the system needed a very Imperialistic name," the captain, Captain Young, spoke as he moved down from the Gauss Warthog passenger seat.
"Damn the planet, he didn't find much did he?" Rich spoke as he swatted another mosquito.
"Nothing at all, nothing at all," the captain looked around from the ground level. Looking around, Arthur hopped onto the rear of the Gatling Warthog, and looked around. Now reclining against the Warthogs, the Marines rested.

For five seconds.

Screaming down the river from the opposite direction, two of the fork shaped "Apparation" Covenant transports, which began firing the plasma cannons, blowing apart the moving column.

"God damn, move men, into the water!" Booker yelled as the plasma started flying, one bolt blowing apart his Warthog. Jumping off the Warthog, Arthur sprinted into the water, diving under the murky depths, weeds and vines like ghosts touching his skin, eerie. Bursting from the watery depths, the two Covenant ships had opened the hatches into the river. The Blue Team Warthogs were a wreck, so was Red Teams. Pulling out the assault rifle, Arthur opened fire. Bullets rattled along the ship. Piling out, Grunts and Elite, four Jackals from the opposite side, their shields blocking the waters flow. More of the team rose from the water, rifles aimed and firing. Plasma bolts flew from the pistols and rifles, one Elite leading the group, his hand clasped around a energy sword. Pulling out a grenade, Arthur pulled the pin and released. Booker appeared, holding his rifle in one hand, Rich in the other. Rockets appeared, their trails from across the river. Ducking under the water, Arthur pulled out his binoculars. Rising, he peered into them. Four Spartan warriors, handling multiple Jackhammers. Dropping the bionculars, Arthur opened fire again, plasma bolts boiling the water, causing random burns as he moved. To Booker.

A couple of things:

Stylistically, it's considered proper to include dialog in seperate paragraphs. It looks like you tried to do that; it may have been a problem with the formatting after you pasted into the thread box.

It was battle scene. But is it part of a larger story? It might be helpful if you explained if this was just a one time offering or part of larger story or series of stories.

The water rippled as one of the Covenant ships exploded, debris and shrapnel flying everywhere, killing a couple Elites and the four Jackals. The second ship began to lift off, the water rippling as the wind gusted downward. Exploding like the counterpart, the frame crashed into the water, the following explosion sending more shrapenl, this cutting down the remainer of Covenant forces and a couple Marines.


"Give me a hand Arthur, damn, Rich is heavy!" Booker groaned, panting with the effort.
"Yes, sir, sir!," Arthur moved as quickly as he could, grabbing Rich under his armpit, lifting him out of the water.
"One hell of a five minute break!" one of the other Marines spoke up, moving to the bank. Smiling, Arthur helped Booker and Rich to the bank, his boots now soggy, and his pants wet.


Slipspace to Oculus Septimus
UNSC Hannibal, Verdun Campaign VI

"Commander Clark, the 45th ODST Brigade reports that they have sustained casualties of 732 KIA, 210 MIA, with a remainder of 107 Marines ready for action. Galba Chateau has been defended. Spartans Delta Team report that the Covenant are preparing to move across the Bay of Galba during low tide, and have placed Lotus mines in the path, but request any assistance."
Heaving in breaths, Commander Clark was the living emblem of Covenant brutality. A tall, proud man, his old ship, UNSC Hamilcar, was boarded by SpecOps of Elites and grunts. Captured, he was given to a Elite who had removed the lower right part of his jaw. Then, the Marines, guns blazing, had cut down the SpecOps. He would have bled to death, if he wasn't placed in stasis. He had lived, now with a rebreather and other machinery in place of his jaw, now taking breaths between large amounts of words.
"Very good captain, exit slipspace..., prepare 46th, 47th, and 48th ODST ...., to be deployed to Oculus Septimus...., when we arrive."
"Yes, Commander."
Walking the bridge of the UNSC Hannibal gave Clark a feel of power, and it wasn't just just that the Hannibal was the "jewel of the navy", a marvel in cruiser design and power. It was the curve of the panels, the soft blink of the lights, the pale blue engines, it was the ship.

"Commander Clark, we have a problem. Two battleships, and a cruiser are orbiting Oculus Septimus. We will exit above the three ships, one of the battleships was positively identified as the Cardinal of Purity"
"We outnumber them, so tell every ship to load their MAC guns, and prepare the Shiva warheads. They will be expecting us."

"Commander Songhree, there are four Human crusiers about to exit Slipspace. We have yet assaulted Galba Chateau, and gained the crystals. However, the gods will deliver our victory on the backs of the faithful!"
"Quiet, your flatery will not give you a Phantom, nor a flight of Banshees. You will command the assault from here, in the ship."
The Elite flicked away the younger Elite, turning back to the report from the bay. Already scratchy, the Human interference was distorting some words, and the image of the black Elite could barely be seen.

"Grand.... Humans, have.... retreat...., Phantoms have been lost in the assault.... need.... gods"
"Very good Commander Iligahuee, attack at the earliest moment, gods willing!" Songhree flicked off the screen, turning to the Elite who ran the hangar.
"Deploy my Phantom, and a small fleet of Banshees for cover, the attack needs suport, so let my son get two Phantoms and a contingent of Jackals."

"Yes Commander."

Note:ODST is an acronym for Orbital Drop Shuttle Troopers.

The light faded from the horizon, dark red as the sun sank below the horizon. Peering through his sniper scope, Arthur watched as the bay slowly sank, the tide going out. Already, the Covenant forces had arranged the Wraith tanks in the center, Grunts and Jackals riding the flanks. Ghost scouts had formed a loose ring around the front. Spectres and Shadows were sitting behind, loaded with aliens.

Sitting in the rubble on the river edge, Arthur knew the enemy was out of range. Nearby, the Spartan squad, armed with Jackhammers. Marines were everywhere else, their guns trained on the enemy. Battlefield promoted, to a corporal position. Rumbling, Scorpion tanks were revving up, ready for a fight.
"Delta Spartan, this is Delta Command. We have movement on our scanner. Prepare to be knocked." Knocked was the term for artillery barrage.

Thundering away, the 105mm Magnetic Accelerated Howitzers began the barrage. Falling into the enemy position, the fire erupted among the Wraiths. Picking up speed, they began to swerve. Exploding suddenly, a Wraith turned away, the Lotus mine doing its job. Two Ghosts moved around, an explosion catching them, tossing them away. Swooping in, two Phantoms dived low. Banshees followed, fuel rod cannons blasting away.

"AA, get a bead, we have Covenant air support. Pelicans and Longswords requested." Arthur heard Booker radio in, sheltered behind a pile of rubble.
"Roger that Red One, AA support incoming," the Delta Command replied.

Still aiming at the lines of Covenant, Arthur took a bead on a Spectre. Driving the vehicle, he could see the four jaws. Pulling the trigger, a resounding thunder crossed the area. Falling away, the Spectre smashed into a Shadow. More thunder and smoke as the other snipers fired at the Covenant. Swooping down again, the Phantoms fired at the position. Moving out, the Spartans fired the Jackhammers. Trails of smoke led the rockets into the Phantom, the plasma cannons a ball of flame.

The three whale shaped objects appeared, pearlescent like the Spartans armor.
"Fire the MAC cannons and Shiva warheads!" Clark ordered before the exit. Firing, two MAC cannons sent rounds into the battleship, followed by two Shiva warheads.
The rest of the flotilla fired away, the MAC rounds cutting into the Cardinal of Purity. Exploding, the ship erupted in flame. Firing a plasma torpedo, the Covenant cruiser turned away. Another three rounds of MAC exploded the cruiser. Bursting apart, the Cardinal of Purity exploded into fragments, some rocketing into the atmosphere of the planet. Launching two torpedoes, the last battleship exited into slipspace.
"Launch the Pelicans."
