People might know me from TWC or SCC forums.

I have created a mod for those of us who do not want the huge change made by RTR and who just want reskins for all factions and a new map.

This is for RTW 1.5

It changes the following:

-reskins for most if not all units for all factions except for egypt.
-mundus magna v3
-new battlemap banners for most factions
-reworked roman postmarain unit list to balance campaign game
-balanced unit stats for longer battles

DOWNLOAD THIS FILE AS WELL. IT FIXES SEVERAL PROBLEMS. SIMPLY PLACE IN THE ROME TOAL WAR\DATA FOLDER AND OVERWRITE THE EXISTING ONE.

Please post any bugs here or any thoughts for improvements. The full version will feature reskins for every unit for all factions except egypt, and reskiuns for all mounts. It will also have balanced unit stats.

Lusted, I have played Custom Battles a few times using a full array of units for Armenia and repeatedly got CTD. I tried a few other factions and only got CTD once. I am a little concerned with getting into an Armenia capaign only to get CTD in the middle. Did you experience this with Custom Battles? Could Campaign battles be stable while Custom produces CTD?

The skins look fabulous!! Did you produce them yourself for all factions?

Postscript: I realize now that you used skins from a variety of sources including your own. Overall, looks great.

I tried custom battles with all factions and i had no ctd, use show_err to find what's causing it.

How do you use show_err. I tried typing this in after the CTD and nothing appeared.

I tried the Armenians again and through a process of elimination identified that the CTD was coming from the Cataphract Archers. I am not knowledgeable enough about modding and skins to be able to investigate and identify what the error may be. See if you get the same problem.

I went through every other factions putting all their units into a Custom Battle and they all did not cause CTD, except Pontus where I think there may also be a few problematic units. I am curious if you get the same results as me.

To use the show_err, right click on the roem total war shortcut on the desktop, go to properties and edit the target line si it has -show_err on the end. It should look something like this.

"C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" -show_err

run rome from the shortcut and when it crashes it should gve you an error message. Post the error message here and ill know what to do.

I tried it with the Armenians first putting Cataphract Archer into Custom Battle and got the message: Failed to find texture 'data/models_unit textures/wspite_eastern_archer_armenia.tga'.
I then put all the Pontus units into Custom Battle and got the same failed to find texture message for 'wspite_horse_cataphract_pontus' - however, I know from some previous tests of my own that there are more error units with Pontus than just this one. It seems show_err only shows one error at a time. Probably the one that crashes the system. When I tried Pontus on the campaign map, it crashed in my first battle using low end units.
Hope this helps because I really want to use your mod with all the nicer skins together in one on the RTW 1.3/1.5 platform which has the better graphics with the morte realistic shadows.

PS - Also got a failed to find texture message with SPQR with 'lusted_roman_early_guard_cavalry_senate_tga.

I've also been having CTD's in this mod with the Eastern factions (I'm not sure about Parthia actually, but definately Armenia and Pontus) With show_err I think I got warnings about the Pontic Lesser General and Armenian Archer units.

A few other things I noticed: The Spartan Hoplite skin appears extremely messed up, the Scythian Noble Women unit has no name and has an identical model to Scythian Noble Archers (but still has a female voice) I think a few unit descriptions are absent or could use some improvement as well (like the new Celtic units)

Apart from that, though, I'm really enjoying it, excellent "lite" modification.

EDIT: Just realised that the Spartan Hoplite thing is probably my fault. I think the folder I used was using the Alternate Spartan Hoplite model CA released, that's probably causing it.

Oops, the problem is that i had an old version of the descr_model_battle.txt in the download. Heres a link to the correct file. Simply place this in the RTW\data folder and overwrite the existing one.
