Just downloaded the patch and did a little testing:
In 1.5/1.6, we finally don't need map_heights.hgt anymore.
The game directly compiles map_heights.tga into map.rwm

At least it's an improvement....
Is there any obvious thing to do before porting a 1.4 map to 1.6 ? I tried to do so, but the campaign CTDs after generating the .rwm (I deleted the 1.4 generated map_heights.hgt).
This is kinda annoying. I edited so many files that if there's something that's not compatible with 1.6, I'll waste hours and hours looking for it. I might aswell restart the map from scratch.
I must say I am somewhat baffled by reports of problems with rwm generation (inc. adding new buildings) and also (now) the 1.6 camp. map from 1.4
I have had no problems whatsoever.
Perhaps I've just been really lucky though I've likely played around with it more than most so I cannot see how I have avoided any inherent problems.
1.6 makes some changes to the disasters text file, victory conditions and descr_strat (and I believe the "unlocked" file) but that's about it as far as campaign files are concerned.
Can you be more specific?
My mod worked perfectly from 1.4 to 1.6 and 1.3 to 1.5 I did'nt have to change a thing.Quote:

Dol Guldur: Try creating an empty mod folder, copy the rtw maps dir and the settlement_names file in /text
Then copy edb and export_buildings in /text, add a building and delete map.rwm and you should see what is meant ;)
