Are preferences so innocent?

I'm very confused due to the different problems observed by three beta testers (an myself) in the same version of the mod.:san_huh:

Tester A was not able to fight some historical battles, whereas B and C played the battles without problems (as me).

Tester B had CTD in custom battle when one cavalry unit was present, whereas it didn't happened to me. In fact, this brought me to discover a little mistake in descr_model_battle (the path to the sprite file), but I was playing with the mistake!

Tester C has CTD when trying to load the campaign, whereas B and me were able to play up to 15 turns without problems.

Is there any issue with the preferences used to make the mod and those used to play it?

Could this question be responsible for these different behaviors of the mod?
Does anybody find similar problems?
