What do you (and Brits in particular) think of this British year-round car surveillance scheme? Every journey by every car will be monitored and timed, and the record will be held for two years. The Police National Computer in Hendon, North London, will store 35 million number-plate "reads" per day.

And I wonder how many are going to blissfully give up their rights because the government tells them its for their own good? Who'll be the first to pull out the old 'if you're good you have nothing to fear' line?
The logical next step will be increased gov't monitering of all your activities. Internet sites, books you read, everything. Even if this did make you safer (I doubt it will, but it will give the government loads of information about your life), I'd rather live free or die trying. Better to go down fighting than cheerfully enable government tyranny.

Those are great links, Kanamori. :bow: One of the main problems with Orwell misconceptions (at least here in the States), is that they force you to read 1984, Animal Farm, or both in the 9th or 10th grade (age ~15), and then nobody reads him again. In my mind, that is too young an age to have to comprehend what he is trying to say. So everybody has read the books, but refer to them with a younger, more black and white mindset. Once you become a cynical old man, the books make perfect sense. :san_grin:
