Romani diplomacy with Epeiros
I've played enough campaigns now, with FOW off (bug testing), to notice a recurring peace that exists between Epeiros and the Romani.
Both factions will have heavily stacked armies sitting within their borders but not attacking one another.
Epeiros seems to expand in Greece but make peace with the Romans. As a result, Roman expansion is haulted. THey don't seem to advance at all up north but rather wait out this peace, which has yet to break in any of my games (mind you they all have CTD'd so perhaps they would have).
Carthage almost always keeps an army near Rhegion but never attacks. Neirther Epeiors, Romani, or Carthage try to conquer lower Italy.
Has any one else come across this? The stalemate will hurt later on game play, since I always have hopes to go up against a full stacked late Romani army.
Re: Romani diplomacy with Epeiros
I have played two Casse Campaigns so far in my first one which i played until about 230 BC. The romans fought against epirus and won Illyria. Epirus was also at war with Greece and became their protectorate. After that roman the romans could not expand against anymore since they were losing massivley against the remaining Epitos armies and the new greek ones. Thats about the time i landed with my casse troops in italy.:laugh4:
Man did i whip them.
In the second campaig as casse they did not expand toward epirus but have taken part of sicilay and are fighting against the Arverni and aedui. Already too much of the Map is red and i fear before i can help my gaul friends they might get wped out.
I dont play with fow off all the time but once in a while i take a look at the whole map just to see what happend. The only faction i have seen expanding problems are the sauromatae. They hardly ever gain a province evven though they try.
Re: Romani diplomacy with Epeiros
If you've played as far as 230, please post a screenshot of your campaign map (with fog of war off) on the AI expansion thread. We'd love to see it!
Chester - I have seen this too, but I just am not sure what the cause or solution could be.
Re: Romani diplomacy with Epeiros
I'm sure you could script some roman armies spawning now and then, heading for greece?

the question is..would we (/they) want that?
Re: Romani diplomacy with Epeiros
i know, but you can take some randomness into account. and say, if epeiros has > 10 provinces or something and the time is pretty much when romans invaded greece, then there is a 10% chance of the appearance of a spawning army heading for greece (I believe there is a random number generator in the scripting "api"). could also been done with carthage vs romans etc, forcing behavior (or the alternative is pretty much nothing happens I guess).
