Felons, the lot of you!
I'm going to press charges against all of the lefties on this board, who have always strived to annoy me, and who live in America.
Thanks to the Violence Against Women and Department of Justice Reauthorization Act, annoying people such as yourself can be incarcerated for up to 2 years or fined, since annoying people over the internet without disclosing your identity is now a federal crime.
I'm serious.
But I'm not serious in any admiration for this law.
Nor do I think we should jump on Bush for signing this, since it was buried in a must-pass bill to finance the Department of Justice. But he should direct the DOJ to not enforce it.
I hate legislation that outlaws speech that another person finds offensive or that they simply don't like.

It does look like a pretty lousy law. But it would almost be worth it to me if it put the people who send out millions of spam porn advertising emails everyday in jail for a couple of years.

Hey Crazed Rabbit, you suck! Lots!
*runs from jail sentence*
What a ridiculous law.
-
Re: Felons, the lot of you!
They could have worded it just to stop e-mail spammers but instead left it totally open to interpretation. Stupid.

Oopsie! If he truly did that (at least formally and in writing), it would actually be an impeachable offense. It would be sad to lose him over this when all of the other tomatos lobbed by the left have failed.

Re: Felons, the lot of you!
The wording of that law ('annoy') is simply ridiculous.

Re: Felons, the lot of you!
Hey, it keeps the lawyers employed...
-
Re: Felons, the lot of you!
The feminists need their laws too...~
I mean, look at this example of Michigan law...
A woman isn't allowed to cut her own hair without her husband's permission.
But still, this one is in their favor...
It is illegal for a man to scowl at his wife on Sunday.

Re: Felons, the lot of you!
What I'd like to see is piece of crap politicians stop sticking unrelated amendments to must pass bills. I would also like to see people in the Congress reading the bill sthemselves, instead of delegating it to staffers who "summarize" it for them, something that happens more frequently than most of you realize.
And no, it didn't have to pass because if others had been alerted to it they could have told the author to remove it or freeze the bill, much like the entire Senate did when Jackass Spencer from Alaska tried to attach an ANWAR drilling amendment to the bill that was giving troops pay increases. And despite spencer crying on the floor, threatening to call session over holiday break, and waving his fist and telling fellow Republicans "but I always helped your states out when you needed it!" and making a subtle hint that he was going to "lose it" and start busting heads, the entire Senate stood up against this guy and told him to take it out. So no, this wasnt "must pass" legislation because it could have easily had the attachment removed by telling the author to take it off and bumping it to the back burner for 3 hours, and then Specter would have lookied like the buffoon for holding up a federal department budget bill over an internet issue.
So the others either knew about it and didnt care, or they didn't know because none of them read the freaking things they vote on since they are too busy having lunch with lobbyists or cheating on their wives.
I don't like the "no enforce" rule because at some point we may get some yahoo who will enforce it, and it will blindside everyone who had no idea it was a law to begin with.

well if your very simple minded (like good ol georgy) than it might look like a good thing, no more spam things involving a nubian prince, a million bucks and your bank account (i wonder how many of those Bush has fallen for). but for one with an open mind and a devious heart we can turn it upside down:laugh4:

Such a vaguely worded law is a liability.

Agreed. It's happening far too often, and people keep falling for it.
