Introduction - What is Age of Vikings and Fanatics : Total war?
AoVaF is a modification for RTW/BI with patch 1.6 installed. It's an historically accurate modification representing the period 843 AD to 1099 AD, which includes viking raids, magyar expansion, the internal struggle between the frankish heirs: the western, central and eastern frankish empire, the semi-settled steppe people khazars, the abbassid khaliphate and the battle for britain including normandy, alba, gwynedd, Alfred the Great, Norway and Denmark. Historically, the first crusade reached Jerusalm in 1099 AD and the reconquista of the Iberian peninsula had progressed far at that time. Therefore, later in the mod crusader units and event related to the early crusades are also represented.

When is AoVaF released?
A release date for AoVaF has not been announced yet. It's difficult to predict when it will be ready. However as we get closer to the release date, we may make an announcement.

What is the rationale behind the faction choices?
Historical importance over the entire mod period, weighed against importance at the beginning of the mod. A few are also included for gameplay reasons, this is mostly the case for the factions in Britain. There is a limit in the RTW engine for how many factions can be included and we've reached that number already. We believe the current choice will create the most realistic and fun gameplay both at the starting date and in how the campaign progresses.
