Last semester, I was part of a design team for Intro to Mechanical Design class that made a machine that folded shirts using the above method. The machine worked, but we had to use a kid's shirt as Westerner-sized shirts don't take well to that folding method.Quote:

My knot of choice is the 'Grand Windsor'. Most of my ties are made of fine thin silk, so they look best with a large knot.Quote:

Pah, real men wear cravats.
I will go off and try this folding shirts thingy...tomorrow morning.
Oh, and it's the double Windsor for me too.
Quid
Most recently tied tie was a bow... so there's that.
When wearing a normal tie, the know I use appears to be the grand windsor (if I understand the diagram Louis provided).
N.B. Mirrors are to be avoided, as they can confuse. They're ok for adjusting once the knot is made though.
I don't know which knot I use. I can knot a tie perfectly, but if I think about what I am doing or, worse, watch myself in a mirror then all is lost!
This is all amazing. This morning I folded my shirt in 4 seconds and tied my school tie in a windsor knot... I feel so proud...
Right. Any particular thoughts about bow ties?Quote:

Excuse me? In our day and age, the masses dress like slobs on holiday. Sneakers, jeans, bomber jackets, amorphous shirts in vomit colours, sweaters full of inane commercial ads, all things knitted... the horror.. The worst cases carry their money in pouches strung across their genitals. 'Marsupials' I call them.Quote:

My thoughts on bow ties.
Well, for a start, those abominations that clip on at the back or wherever are strictly out of order.
Personally, I have three - one white, two black - one's a spare. I do have another on order - don't know what the pattern is - it's a society tie.
I'm still not sure whether I prefer wings or normal collars... wings do look silly with clip-ons though (not that there's much that can redeem them - the slight skewness of a self-tie is essential).
And of course, towards the end of the evening, a self-tie can be arranged around the neck, undone, with far more style than the aforesaid abominations.
I do. And the clip-ons are great for children. On my desk I have a picture of my two young sons in their Christmas outfits - off-white cotton shirt, dinner jacket and bow tie -- with arms slung amicably across each other's shoulders, both smiling that ... knowing smile that somehow, mysteriously, comes with such clothes. Boy, do they look fantastic.Quote:

Have you ever tried the 'sloppy Onassis' by the way? I have, but I believe it is most suited to life on board a billion dollar yacht - something I have not quite achieved.Quote:

They demonstrated the perfect folding of shirts in midair, but needed only 2 seconds.
It looked as if they tried to shake dust from it but when finished it looked as good as new
and was perfectly neatly folded.
Personally I see this as a proof of magic.
Those women are witches controlling powers far beyond me. :shocked2:
I can understand your employer's position. Videos of Asian girls working in the hotel industry.. yeah right.Quote:

My wife is an expert at folding shirts. She amazed her coworkers at JC Penney. I haven't timed her, but her results are impressive.
She's Japanese, by the way.

I can never get it *just* right.
Nevermind. After a half an hour of long hard labor, I got it! And seeing how it looks very good with my favorite tie, it is now my knot of choice, replacing the single windsor.
