Natural Disaster idea

I was reading up on some history and came to realize just how devastating a fire in an ancient city, or flood, or plague could be.

So here is what I'm thinking. I know you can some how trigger events, just as Vanilla RTW having the volcano erupt on Sicily and killing off part of that one city, sorry I cant remember any of the names. Is there someway to change the code or whatever to cause random disasters in a city?

Maybe having a 5% chance each turn for something to happen, the % increasing depending on city size? BUT, if you have the city garrison upgrade, or the other roman city upgrades (I really apologize here, I cannot think of a single name but they were the fire brigade and all that), they would give a bonus against the disaster chance.

The disasters can wipe out say... 40% of the population tops, or whatever you want, and depending on the disaster, damage or destroy buildings.

I think this would make the garrison/whatever more cost effective and time effective, as well as adding a secret threat to cities.

Just a thought but I'd love to see it.

i dont think it would work. if u come to think about it then there where few eruptions as devastating as Vesuv.

I do like the idea of fires. I also think that there could be random gang fights between different factions within the city. There were a lot of factions and no police in those times, so it seems those things happened more. (Maybe not, they seem to happen a lot now even though we have police.) Some people would die and perhaps a building would be damaged.

well I didnt mean volcanic eruptions, I was just using that as an example for a natural disaster that is already in the game that damages the local population and buildings.

The gangs is another good idea I hadnt thought of that.
