Problem with Strat cas files....
I have a problem ow a weird whitening on some points of the unit , it happens only when in strat map and I have no idea of what can cause it , anyone knows what can be?
as you cas see there is a sort of gloss or highlight , but it is asymmetrical and not due to any elemnt , poligon problem in original model ......

Re: Problem with Strat cas files....
I have noticed the same thing, and have no idea how to fix it.
Re: Problem with Strat cas files....
Try making an actual gloss file for that model but just don't put any gloss on it, or put it an a safe small location where it would not matter.
I have had problems with battle map problems where models that didn't have gloss files are getting the gloss file of another model's. I fixed it by the method above.
Re: Problem with Strat cas files....
I had that with my castles. I don't know for sure but I believe I added extra faces on the bits that had too much shine. The shoulder armour for example could be divided into more faces. And I tried seperating the model into more elements (so less merged vertices). I believe it could be partly fixed but it surely is irritating.
Re: Problem with Strat cas files....
So u suggest I subdivide more the model's faces exposed?
Re: Problem with Strat cas files....
Only at the problem areas. Note that I don't remember it very clearly. I had the shining bits at the corners of my castle. I believe I made the faces that lie right next to the edge very small by dividing the surfaces. I also tried disconnecting surfaces that connected on that edge. I don't remember what worked exactly.
Re: Problem with Strat cas files....
Well at edit mesh, go to smoothing groups and unclear them all of them. After export the model and this should fix the shining. This also happens with the battle models so when you're making lods for them you should check every's mesh smoothing groups of each lod since it's quite noticable when you're zooming. As you may notice after you unclear the smoothing groups the light will be casted on the mesh differently, in fact the faces will shine only if they are seen exactly from the front and not in other angles.
