Your most Glorious Achievement...
I put this in the Backroom because God only knows what the answers will be...
Well, I never won a spelling bee!!! My most glorious achievement wasn't during my military career, even though i have a couple of commendation medals and other awards or my current service to the government, i remember back in junior high and got the most improved award in my Chorus class. I've always been a small kid, never did sports or have ever really done anything exceptional in my life considering my lack of skills of any kind and my ability to make light of about anything that life throws at me. Well, when i was in 8th grade my zits had cleared up a bit and I was kind of a punky goth kid before goth was cool (as if it was ever cool, this was during the grunge days). Anyhoo, I had joined the school's chorus for an easy A. I had been in orchestra and played the violin till the 7th grade so i could read music a bit. I was in some bands playing bass as well. Well, at the end of the year they handed out awards. When they announced my name, the auditorium erupted with cheers and clapping. It was very moving to me. I was the kid that could be friends with both the popular and unpopular crowd. Believe it or not, I'm likable in real life and even more so back then. I believe everyone has a moment in their life where they hit the game winning homerun, kicked a muggers ass, or said something profound that got someone on the right track. What's your's?
Yes, this will probably another pathetic attempt to stoke my ego like a 2 dollar crack whore, but I couldn't think of a greater group of folks or more deserving to share this little highlight in my life or atleast waste a good 2 minutes that you'll never get back!!! Thanks:laugh4:

Re: Your most Glorious Achievement...
Hmm well, when I was younger we had a soccer game against the best team in the league (undefeated). They had a reputation for playing rough with lots of kicking and toe stamping. A teamate was running the ball towards the goal with me close behind. We were close to the goal outside the box but there were about 4 defenders in the way. I called out to him, he passed it to me and I popped it up over the defenders and it dropped right in the goal. It was a good shot but there was no way it should have got past the goalie, but hey we won 1-0 and the other teams coach made them run laps around the field after the game. :balloon2:
Re: Your most Glorious Achievement...
my biggest high moment is when this kid who used to go around the school punching people for no aparrent reason and acting like a right chav started on one of my friends and, even though i am not usually the violent type, i pushed him then he swung for me but it hit my arm and i hit him with a huge right handed punch... man, everyone was cheering for me it was great
there is a less violent one when we were playing football (soccor) and it was against the other 'best' team in the league and it would basically decide who would go top and i managed to clear the ball off the line (i'm a defender) and we won 2-1 :2thumbsup:

Obviously, for anyone who's had children, that's the highest. But I'm not sure it counts, so if I'm to go for something non-child related that made me feel like a huge winner ...
Twins. That's all I'm gonna say.
Re: Your most Glorious Achievement...
Excluding family moments (children, my wedding, etc) I'd have to say when I closed my first multi-million deal with a customer. Customer was Delphi (used to be the AC-Delco parts division of GM). It took over 6 months of haggling, a year later and we still haven't agreed on terms, but we do have the contract as the preferred vendor (actually, the only vendor). Going forward, it will mean about $15million in revenue to my company, $3million for my product line specfically.

What level are you in?
Right now I'm 136 points (thanks to a string of 1st places in local Lincoln-Douglas competitions. Yes I'm God, thanks to the org, actually.) and by this weekend should be (hopefully) crossing the 150 line for a level up. (+1 rhetoric!) =)
But oh so tired it is of all these rounds and lost Saturdays. :shame:
My most glorious achievement is when my 6-star French prince took Palestine with a crusade, retreated to Jerusalem castle from a counter-attack, then came out all alone next turn and completely annihilated an army three times my size of those pesky Fatimid-Egyptians, especially with their precious Sultan captured in the battle for a ten thousand florins increase. :2thumbsup:
