At least 13.97cm (5.5in) long, 2.69cm (1.06in) thick, without 'abnormal curvature'
Or so requires EU Regulation 2257/94 of the size of bananas.
Link
So, in the last couple of days I've read here about banana-sizes, driving licences for the blind and the right to shoot Welshmen with a crossbow.
As I'm a great fan of silly laws and regulations, I was wondering if any of you can think of more good ones?

Texas - It is Texas law that when two trains meet each other at a railroad crossing, each shall come to a full stop, and neither shall proceed until the other has gone.
- Texas law forbids anyone to have a pair of pliers in his possession.

Oooh! I have an idea! How about this: if some one dies while under a doctors care, the doctor should be held accountable for them dying! Regardless of the doctors actions, regardless of how the patient died. The family will be given all of the doctors possessions, and the doctors family will be sold into slavery.
Well, I think that it would work.

May I suggest annexation of Panama as our first move as United Scandinavia, to make sure that our bananas is left alone? :idea2:

Ireland's about to repeal some cool laws from the middle ages.
These include ones to prevent the wicked native Irish from fraternising with settlers and to prevent Jews from owning armour (because, you know, the Irish Jew population was very troublesome then).

It is illegal for anyone to fly the Lion Rampant without express permission from Her Majesty the Queen, or the Lord Lyon King of Arms on her behalf.

Really? Go call the police, I'm sure someone's breaking that law right now, quite visibly too.

Re: At least 13.97cm (5.5in) long, 2.69cm (1.06in) thick, without 'abnormal curvature
Some people are actually taken to court on the matter. I believe Cumbernauld Council was taken to the Court of the Lord Lyon for flying the Lion Rampant.

laws being enforced in the UK, will wonders never cease?
Edit: I'm shocked there isn't some sort of lion rampant tolerance zone that includes all of Scotland, like the cannabis tolerance zones in London.

Peronally, I think Holland and Belgium should form a league of their own, dedicated to pot and beer... they could call it the "Flanderian Union."

Must Resist bad pun, must resist. :wall:
So it seems the EU is setting up next to regulate the short arms of males in Europe by passing bad banana laws.
That was just pitful, but the dark side of the force drew me to making a very bad pun.:shame:

No bank notes are legal tender in Scotland.

BUT but but you got the pound note after everybody else got rid of it.
And nothing beats the joy of using Scottish money in England.

1. During an Oxford exam you may order cider.
2. Entering the exam hall without your sword incurs a fine.
3. If a lord enters the exam hall on a horse everyone gets a 1st.

Thats actually quite reasonable, in a monarchist sort of way. The Lion Rampent is one of the Queen's symbols.
