EB v0.7.4 (patch)

Greetings Europa Barbarorum fans!

The EB team has been hard at work fixing the bugs you guys have helped us find. We're happy to be able to present the newest version of EB for you, which addresses every known CTD bug but for one (the reinforcement CTD). This replaces the 0.7.3a patch completely. It includes everything in 0.7.3a, plus the fixes I list below.

So without further ado, here are the installation links and instructions for each file:

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

1) Patch: EB Version 0.74 is a patch (68MB), and should be installed on top of EB v0.72. Version 0.72, as you know, needs to be installed on a clean, working version of RTW with the 1.2 patch installed, and with no other mods installed. We have no current information on how to help those who purchased the RTW Gold version.

Theoretically, v0.74 should be able to be installed over 0.72 + 0.73a, but occasionally users have reported problems with overwrites such as these. So, if any problems are encountered at all, an uninstall and reinstall is recommended.

These changes should be savegame compatible, though certain fixes (the Kypros port CTD fix for sure) may not begin working until you start a new campaign.

- updates to script precursor placement
- several format changes to prepare for move to 1.5 (does not affect 1.2 functionality)
- removed errant stables
- removed second temple from Mrogaedu
- ate a twinkie
- various building description updates
- adjusted mine stats

What about the army merge thing? Is that fixed?

After the v.73 release, no one reported that bug.....so....uuuh....umm...yeah, we fixed it!!:sweatdrop:

If nothing else, 0.74 will be a boon to Twinky sales.

The army merge thing is either another CTD bug or it is the same one as the reinforcement bug I think, but those are the only two we still feel unsure about (maybe till something is reported for 074 now :grin:). But we haven't clearly resolved that merge bug. I do agree with Kull that no one has reported it lately though, so maybe that's a good sign too.

I just ordered RTW Gold, should I just cancel the order or will this mod become compatible in the future?

It will be finally ported to 1.5 version. If everything will continue so good it is at the moment It will be earlier than MTW2 ~:)

So RTW Gold is version 1.5?
I think I have heard something about a way to depatch the 1.5 to 1.2.
Am i wrong?

RTW Gold has BI/1.6 installed, so even after our move to 1.5 there will be a problem, and we don't know if we will ever move to BI.

I have not heard of this way to de-patch, if you will, but that doesn't mean it does not exist.

I was told that 1.6 only applies when you are playing BI, and that if you play the non-BI version of RTW Gold, that you are essentially playing 1.5. Is that incorrect? Do you load it up as two different games? I have no idea how it works, but there still may be hope that RTW Gold can play our 1.5 port. Someone smarter than me will have to fill us in on that though.

Actually, I've no idea, perhaps someone who has RTW Gold can enlighten us.

I'm no tech head but I suspect you are right and there will be no problem. As I understand it, the 1.6 patch does the same to vanilla RTW as the 1.5 patch; it differs only in also modifying the BI specific files.

I suspect the RTW Gold people just get the same as what the BI + RTW owners have, but just had the RTW parts already patched.

That's correct. If you've installed RTW Gold, it applies 1.5 to the vanilla RTW game and 1.6 to BI. So when you play BI, you're playing with the 1.6 patch, or if you're playing RTW, you're playing with the 1.5 patch.

Least, that's how I understand it. Yeah, I think it's the same as simply patching the game normally, just it already comes pre-patched.

Edit: clarified my post slightly.

The version numbers work like this:

1.0 RTW (out of the box)
1.1 RTW (first quick patch)
1.2 RTW (second bigger patch)
1.3 RTW (RTW after installation of BI - also separately downloadable)
1.4 BI (out of the box)
1.5 RTW (RTW after installation of BI 1.6 patch)
1.6 BI (first patch for BI)

It sounds like RTW Gold will be the latest version - that is RTW 1.5/BI 1.6. A 1.5 version of EB should be compatible with it.

Assuming Alexander: Total War doesn't add any new patches to the mix.

I've heard alot of people who were able to run EB after they bought Rtw gold. I believe they just unzipped the zipped 1.2 patch over it or something like that. But it is possible, I'm not sure how but it is.

Oo, it's gonna' feel good brother. I've been there, done that, and let me tell you brother, ain't nothing like EB. Now get ready, EBmania is gonn'a run wild all over you!

Today I had my first RTW experience. I must say that I have no interest in playing the vanilla, the game just feels plain weird. (When I saw the "historical" battle of Raphia I nearly had a heart attack:wall:) Still, the engine has great potential and now I´m waiting impatiently for my first EB experience:2thumbsup:

Great patch! No more CTDs, and wonderful new traits functions such as the supply traits!

Edit: And the voice mod, how could I forget to mention? Wonderful voice acting and in correct languages too, very impressive and ambitious! :2thumbsup:

GUYS, I NEED MAJOR BACK UP I HAVE:
1-uninstalled RTW and its mods
2-re-installed it,
3-dled patch 1.2 for RTW
4-dled EB .7.2
5-dled EB .7.4

AND I GET THIS ERROR WHEN i TRY TO RUN IT, it reads:
"data/descr_event_images.txt at line 623, column 1
unknown event string faction defeated by player"

That is a corrupt download.

Uninstall
Reinstall
Install 1.2 patch
Install EB 0.72
Check that EB works. If it doesn't redownload, if it does ...
Install EB 0.74
If EB doesn't work then 0.74 needs to be downloaded again.
