Hostages in Iraq Rescued
http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/...ges/index.html
Quote:
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Just three hours after a newly captured detainee told them the location of three Christian aid workers, coalition troops on Thursday rescued the men who had been held hostage since November.
Good to hear. I wish they had caught the men who did it, though.

Re: Hostages in Iraq Rescued
very good, i hope they can continue this. but also, the house was completely unguarded, thats a very good sign, the insurgency is growing thin in the ranks and can't spread themselves. We're winning.
-
Re: Hostages in Iraq Rescued
Fantastic news, though if only this had come a few weeks earlier, the fourth hostage might have been found alive too.
-
Re: Hostages in Iraq Rescued
What a bunch of ungrateful bastards. Not once did they thank the troops for pulling them out of this. They should have left them in the hands of their "freedom fighters".

:inquisitive:
Perhaps they were out there conducting well-organized attacks on police stations? :idea2:

Then perhaps you really are winning, but nobody told the insurgents. :idea2:
Either way, good to see the surviving hostages freed.

Re: Hostages in Iraq Rescued
When I first heard they were alone, I thought the insurgents might have gotten wind of it and simply bolted. Seems logical if they were pressed for time. Pulling the hostages along with them would be silly, and had they been willing to truly kill them, then they would have been dead, all of them.

Well, what do you expect from Christians...it was the will of God.

Just heard this on the news, go 22 Regiment!

The true worth of a man is determined by what he'll do for a man who can do him absolutely no good.
But yeah, that's pretty ungrateful.
Good job, 22 regiment.

Re: Hostages in Iraq Rescued
These people belong to the same group who has repeatedly referred to the US as "occupiers." All politics aside, I think some thanks are warranted and failure to do so is incredibly tacky. It reminds me of when the western parents of the dead bulldozer girl (isreal/palestine) went to Palestine to whine about how terrible Isreal is and they end up being kidnapped by palestenian radicals.
-
Re: Hostages in Iraq Rescued
Ungrateful, yes. But you'd still want to free those protestors right?
It's simply the decent thing to do.
-
Re: Hostages in Iraq Rescued
There must have been 100 seperate quotes/phrases on their website about the joy and elation of having them freed, and not one of them said anything about thanking the people who got them free.

It seems that one of the kidnappers group was arrested and told them where the hostages were. so the kidnappers must have had at least some time to realise, or be told what happened, but not enough to organise transportation with any likely degree of success without being spotted.
so they left.
And in the statement i heard the troops who rescued them were the first ones mentioned.
they then went on to compare themselves to the soldiers, stating that since the soldiers were risking their lives for what they believe, they should do no less.

Stop it Mysic , don't you understand , these people didn't say thank you , even though they did say thank you they still didn't really say it .~;)
If you carry on by pointing out that they did say thank you you will ruin the topic for those who want to say that they didn't say thankyou .
Try this line of thought instead .... They should be blaming the soldiers not thanking them .
If the soldiers were not there then there would be no peace protesters going there to complain about the soldiers being there .
If the soldiers were not there then wouldn't be insurgents kidnapping people because the soldiers are there .
If the soldiers were doing their job properly then the insurgents wouldn't be there and they wouldn't be able to kidnap people .
So it is all the fault of the military .

Re: Hostages in Iraq Rescued
sorry, i should be more considerate of others.
although i can't find the transcript... *grunt* how irritating. heard it while i was doing the washing up.

Re: Hostages in Iraq Rescued
According to the CBC, the Pentagon said Canadian Special Forces (that would our JTF-2 boys), also took part.
But I'm still saying thanks to our buddies. :unitedkingdom::unitedstates:

Re: Hostages in Iraq Rescued
Thank goodness. I think this is the first successful rescue in Iraq. Insurgents will think twice before they attempt to kidnap someone.

Re: Hostages in Iraq Rescued
I think I would rather die fighting the insurgents than be held captive.
Even if the chance is there to get rescued, I don't know. I'd try to bring down any bastard that put his hand on me the wrong way though, so...:dizzy2:

Perhaps you should try reading what they said before talking.
Here's their statement:
http://www.pulse24.com/News/Top_Stor...3-005/page.asp
The first mention of the soldiers who rescued them:
Quote:
"We believe that the illegal occupation of Iraq by Multinational Forces is the root cause of the insecurity which led to this kidnapping and so much pain and suffering in Iraq. The occupation must end.
Not that the facts have ever stopped you before.
I have no respect for people who don't give a **** when people like Saddam are in power, but then call the US's actions bad and want them out. It's like they would prefer Saddam. Plus, they're stupid:
Quote:
They went, motivated by a passion for justice and peace to live out a nonviolent alternative in a nation wracked by armed conflict.
Quote:
According to the CBC, the Pentagon said Canadian Special Forces (that would our JTF-2 boys), also took part.
But I'm still saying thanks to our buddies.
Canadians in Iraq? Well the more the merrier! ~

And I have no respect for people who don't give a **** when people like Saddam are in power, but then try to use "removing Saddam from power" and "liberating the Iraqi people" as a justification for a war that costs billions (trillions?) of dollars and tens (hundreds?) of thousands of lives, when the whole world knows that neither of those two things had anything to do with the reason for invading.
All of the chicken hawks going around blowing their horns and patting themselves on the back for their "humanitarian" invasion of Iraq coudn't give two olive-drab turds about the average Iraqi. "Liberating the Iraqi people" is just something they talk about in order to feel less guilty about seeing American flag-draped caskets coming home.
So go peddle your Republican talking points somewhere else. Nobody's buying that beep here. You want to convince us of your love for the Iraqi people? Volunteer for a humanitarian organization and go over there and risk your life building hospitals. But don't stand around telling me what a noble humanitarian you are because you've bought your government's amazing line of beep.
