Vanished girl returns as woman
This is one of the strangest 'kidnapping' stories I've ever heard.
Quote:
Kach spent most of the past 10 years locked in a bedroom of Hose's parents' Soles Street home.
Hose and Kach met in late 1995 at the school where Hose, then 37, worked as a security guard. They secretly dated. She believed they were in love.
No one could take care of her better, she believed. He invited her to move in with him, but told Kach she would have to remain hidden from his parents until he mustered the courage to tell them about her.
She agreed and dreamed of their future together - a wedding, and maybe even children.
But it was mostly a nightmare.

That's sick! Thanks for ruining my mood, Prole! :furious3:

Re: Vanished girl returns as woman
You couldn't make this stuff up. Have the film rights already been sold? You Betcha! Christina Ricci in the star role.
-
Re: Vanished girl returns as woman
Omg that is so screwed up. Poor girl, that guy deserves death.
-
Re: Vanished girl returns as woman
Um, weird. What do you expect from a guy named after a garden watering tool though?
-
Re: Vanished girl returns as woman
No, he deserves to have his balls off.
-
Re: Vanished girl returns as woman
Incredible...imagine losing 10 years in the prime of your life like that...
What ticks me off most is that son of a dog lawyer saying that it was entirely voluntary :furious3:

Can we bring hanging back?

Re: Vanished girl returns as woman
This is the most disturbing crime I've ever read in the news, and no one was killed, beaten, robbed, etc. It's such a shame that all they seem to have charged so far is basically statuatory rape. Can't we just make up a new crime here that's death penalty eligible?

Not really. He would have committed the crime before the law was created and uneligable for the punishment of the law. BTK is a good example of this, since his crimes were commited while the U.S.A. had no death penalty he is not eligable for the death penalty, instead he gets life in prison. But you could always form an angry mob and storm his house with guns ablazing, that always works. :rifle:

Re: Vanished girl returns as woman
Which would be totally unjust. We all live by the same laws, w/o the rule of law, the world is pretty bad. And no ex post facto convictions or punishments is one of the best procedures to have been put down. Of course we're all venting, so I won't try to be too much of rainy day for you.

Re: Vanished girl returns as woman
Just fooling around. I'm against the death penalty to boot, so need to worry about me calling my congressman with that idea.

Re: Vanished girl returns as woman
If she starts dating again, I wonder what her reaction will be when her new boyfriend invites her over to his place.
-
Re: Vanished girl returns as woman
First of all, this is just sick.
However, how could she think she was in love with a man that old? Maybe she was just too young? He must have been really decieving...
-
Re: Vanished girl returns as woman
Perhaps we should turn the guy in a eunuch...you can never have too many eunuchs...:skull:
-
Re: Vanished girl returns as woman
Throw him in a closet...one piece at a time.
Crazed Rabbit

Re: Vanished girl returns as woman
Man, 10 years of your life you'll never get back. I'd have stolen some knife or something and f****d that guy up...

Denis Hopper as the kidnapper?
or Randy Quaid?

Re: Vanished girl returns as woman
Exact same thing happened in Australia. but the girl did not lose 10 yrs, only 4-5 or something. Sick man sick.

Re: Vanished girl returns as woman
I thought sickos were supposed to lock their victims in the basement. I hope this helps remind everyone here with a daughter to keep the line of communication open with her. If this "secret dating" was discovered this situation could have been avoided.
As far as this "rule of law" argument goes: Just remember that certain states have temporary insanity laws for when something like this happens to your children

Re: Vanished girl returns as woman
I don't want to play devil's advocate but....
Why didn't she just try to escape sooner? She was allowed to go on walks. Beofre that, i can't believe there was no way out of the bedroom. The window should have worked if there was no way to open the door.
He never hit her, he never (technically) abused her. She should have run sooner.
Sick bastard, dumb girl...

I didn't wanna be the first to say it, but it does take an incredibly foolish (trying to use the nicest word possible here) girl to have this happen.

Re: Vanished girl returns as woman
Well I don't know...
Had she tried to run she might have been persued and gotten herself killed - as her kidnapper told her would happen should she try...., though personally I don't know what's worse...Spending 10 years with a sick psycopath or dying...
:balloon2:

Of course she should... But apparently he was a convincing person, and also it is far from uncommon that women/girls don't dare fight back when raped...

Re: Vanished girl returns as woman
poor girl, she was probably pretty brainwashed. its the same reason that a women stays with an abusive man, A)fear of repercussion for disobeying B)hes not so bad and he will change C)he loves me. its happened before, its just someone getting pulled in to something they think will be good for them, and when it turns out bad they do not have the power to leave, they are anchored by fear and the image of the person they loved before it got bad.
sad though...and i second the eunuch and permenant detention idea. (detention of course being chained to a wall):skull: :furious3: :skull:

This situation is totally different from being raped:
1) he didn't use violence
2) it lasted more than 5 minutes, about 10 years longer
3) he wasn't there all the time
....
This isn't about fighting, this is about fleeing. I can't believe any normal, rational human being, even at age 14 wouldn't attempt to escape. :wall:
This story is weird, everyone is already ready to lynch the guy, now I'm not saying he is without blame, or not in need of some serious psychological help, or deserving of jail, BUT the role of the girl is still unclear. She ran away from home at age 14, he never used force against her, she was allowed out alone, etc. She sure sounds like a helpless victim to me :inquisitive:
I can only see two explanations here: either she was just plain stupid OR she was a willing 'victim' all along. Parts of the article certainly make me suspicious, her mentioning how prices have gone up is just too obvious, mention the rise of the religious right, the gay-marriage debate, another war in Iraq, the friggin' internet, digital television, cell phones, pretty much anything else. Imagine being in a coma for ten years and waking up in today's world, would you really be focused on the prices today ?????????????
