Re: Woah! Naval invasions:
yep. I was sieging that Epirote town on the Italian mainland when a ship turned up and unloaded a sizeable army and forced me to retreat :furious3: I thought to myself
Re: Woah! Naval invasions:
During the Greko-Makedonian wars in my Getai campaign, KH was putting up a good fight on the mainland but troops had depleted quickly. Lo and behold, a full stack from Rhodos landed on the shores of Athens and aided in removing the Mak presence from the Greek peninsula.
Years later, I had invaded the area myself and they brought a decent army from the island again to try and fend me off but were not so lucky this time. Betray alliance with me will you......
Re: Woah! Naval invasions:
I have had the Epirotes land troops in southern Italy at inconvenient times for me and i have also been on the recieving end of Carthagean re-inforcements landing in north Africa from Spain to annoy my already under-pressure army of conquest.
Strangely Macedon will always attack up the Adriatic coast rather than ship troops across to southern Italy.I wonder is this caused by the faction designation e.g sailor caesar........something mao and so on?
Re: Woah! Naval invasions:
KH is moving like the borg in my campaign. Massive amounts of fully stacked flags hover around would-be conquered towns. Once the Greek flag is raise, the mob moves to the next province, taking it over, and repeat.
Has anyone managed to get Carthage out of their hole yet? I've never once felt threatened by them when playing Rome. That's just not right! I was expecting some landing parties of liby spearmen on the Southern tip of Italy. But nada.
Carthage needs more naval invasions. THe land bridge between ITaly and the Island does nothing to move Carthage into attacking Roman towns.

I concur with that - it´s a pity!
Re: Woah! Naval invasions:
Hopefully the ability in 1.5 to set a faction to "perfer naval invasions" will help with this.
Re: Woah! Naval invasions:
in my kh campaign on 0.72, those makedonian traitors landed a full stack (and with decent troops) on rhodos, breaking our alliance. this was relatively early in the game and hurt my economy to the point that i nearly lost. that was probably just luck but i was impressed by such a move by the ai.
Re: Woah! Naval invasions:
In my current KH campaign the romans landed a stack on Kydonia. ~
Luckaly I doubleclicked on their ship so I knew they were coming and I could grab me some mercs.

Re: Woah! Naval invasions:
Wow! The romans sending a very large stack to Kydonia within 5 years of the game's start is pretty amazing.
Re: Woah! Naval invasions:
"Wow!" is right! I'm sure glad that's not happening to me! In my KH campaign, the Romans have sent diplomats across the Adriatic to Korinth and Sparte, but nothing more. However, they seem to be winning the war with Epirus and have almost pushed them out of Italy.
Re: Woah! Naval invasions:
been running long games in vanilla 1.5 to figure this out.
The ai will always target a land province first (regardless of setting prefers naval invasions to yes). The exceptions are when they either have no land border *or they are land-blocked by alliances or protectorates*. The alliance thing only sometimes.
