The Dragonball legacy
Does anyone remember the days when you would be sitting at home, and a Dragonball or Dragonball Z commercial would come on, and you would shush everyone to listen, with undevided attention? Is anyone here a DB, DBZ, or DBGT fan? I used to be (and sort of are) a HUGE fan. I even have the trading cards too.
To those of you who are/was a fan, what was the most chilling moment in Dragonball Z?

To me, the most chilling time for me was when Gohan turned Ascended Super Saiyan for the first time in history. *goosebumps*

Re: The Dragonball legacy
I loved the manga and some of the earlier American work. After a while, I realized that the American DBZ version really sucked, so I sticked to Japanese with subtitles.
I enjoyed DB much more than DBZ. DBZ focused on fighting, while Dragon ball was more of an adventure and comedy.

Re: The Dragonball legacy
Where is the "No, DBZ sucked, although I watched every episode..." option?

Re: The Dragonball legacy
I loved Dragonball Z. It was my favorite show when I was younger. At age 12 I think I grew out of it though. I still have some of the DBZ cards, which I need to sell (thanks for reminding me).
Sometimes though, I felt an episode would be wasted by enemies floating around each other, taunting one an other. I don't know, I still loved the show.

Re: The Dragonball legacy
Ooohh.... absolutely LOVE the series! GT was kinda Blah!, but DBZ was my favorite (I didn't see much of DB, so I'm not sure if DB was better or not).
Chilling scene: In the Bojack movie, whenever Gohan goes SSJ2 to fight Bojack and in the Cooler movie, when Goku turns SSJ.
I would like to talk to someone (multiple DBZ lovers please!) here about it. I can talk forever about it.
Anyone share my excitement for those two events?

Re: The Dragonball legacy
I liked the episodes involving Cell and the episodes leading up to Boo’s arrival. I don’t remember his name but he is the pink devil guy who spits on people and turns them to stone, he is/was my favorite villain. The DB series was a little too kid like for me, but the z, although entire episodes would go by without anything really happening, I still liked best.

Re: The Dragonball legacy
I like dragonball when I was a kid. Nice adventures funny dialogs with a bit of "action". Z was crap, it took way too long for anything to happen, like that stupid planet having 2 minutes left to blow up took a few episodes. After Z I didn't bother with GT, moved onto more entertaining anime.

Re: The Dragonball legacy
It was so bad it was kinda good...

Re: The Dragonball legacy
I watched dragon ball and absolutelly loved Dragon ball Z, Vegeta was my favorite character and the moment that he went super sayan for the first time was great, the saga were he goes super sayan 2, kicks Goku´s ass and then sacrifices himself to try and stop the bad guy is my favourite moment of the series....
dragon ball gt sucked all kind of balls tough....:laugh4:

Re: The Dragonball legacy
The new one is like GT I think.

Re: The Dragonball legacy
I'm no fan of manga, but I have to admit that when I saw the first few episodes of DBZ I kind of liked it. That's when Goku met his alien brother, and he had to team up with his former worst enemy (the green guy, forgot his name) to beat him, and he ended up sacrificing himself to kill his own brother. That was kind of cool...
After that, it started getting ridiculous FAST. It's more then just a little bit silly that in a few years Goku becomes millions of times stronger then he was at the start of the series, and lot's of episodes were filled with characters taunting eachother for 10 minutes, fight a little, etc, until you heard "watch the conclusion next time...on DBZ" while they were just going to repeat the whole thing in the next episode.

Re: The Dragonball legacy
i like it very much...though dragonball was the best Z was cool also

Seconded. It was fun when I was five years old, not it's just obnoxiously stupid. If you are looking for a shonen with quality look no further than Bleach, which is way better than Naruto ever could. Then again, I'm not a shonen person so even Bleach is not that appealing to me.
Ha! Yes! I'm teh geek!

Re: The Dragonball legacy
I hate the DB series, even when I HAVEN'T watched it. No, I'm not a idiot. You see, there was this fourm called the Metal Maverick Fourm (Metal Maverick was a animatior) and well, it was brilliant. Then all the mods and Admins went away JUST before the 10 year old demon known as Supamadness He obsessed over DBZ, he liked pRon, he wanted to kill his sister, he made spam topics, yet, when I to,d him he was a spammer, everyone defedned them. They payed the price. The fourm faded into obscurity, and then another spammer called Robin0999 finished the place off. One of the smart members made LIfelong Fools, a fourm for all the smart members. Now if you paid attention, Supamadness liked DBZ so that's why I hated the series. That was what made him a spammer. He said he was "smart" because of DBZ, and soobviously DBZ did the opposite affect. There you go.

Erm...
It is of my opinion that, from what I can derive, his problems run much deeper than an affection for DBZ... :inquisitive:

Re: The Dragonball legacy
Yeah, it is. Actually, just being reminded of DBZ, makes me think about that little monster. He also says THOUSANDS of "your mum" jokes, Oh, and of couse, his name has the letters SPAM.

Re: The Dragonball legacy
Dragonball was the stupidest show ever, it was such a copy off of Pokemon. Pokemon rocked back in the day.

You seriously don't know what you're talking about... as far as facts go. Dragonball started in the 80's, while Pokemon started in the mid 90's.

Re : The Dragonball legacy
DB was great, the early DBZ was awesome, untill the post-Frieza period. It then became horribly boring with the same plot for each new uber-over-powered new opponent they would find. It turned out to always sound like :
San Goku/Gohan : "OMG OMG ! This guy is tough. Vegeta/Trunk, there's no way we can beat him alone. He's rated at 2 thousand billions on my uber-toughness-meter"
Vegeta/Trunk : That's 'cause you're weak, I'm going to kick his butt in a few seconds.
*Vegeta/Trunk attacks and dies*
San Goku/Gohan : Damn, I shall avenge you my friend
*San Goku/Gohan finds the trick to turn into a Super Sayan #3, or merge with a random other uber-guy, and then kick the bad guy's butt in a final totaly-awesome-attack that destroy everything around them. Hopefully, someone finds the Dragon Ball and they all come to live again. Then, you have a few boring episodes, in which nothing happen, untill the new bad boy appears. At first he'll be really weak, but he'll find a way to turn into a new killing-machine, by absorbing another lesser bad guy or simply using his hidden powers. He'll then at first hammer the heroes, who will finaly find a way to get even more powerful and win, etc. etc.*
