Anybody from/at/knowing The Hague? Need help right now! yes, right NOW!!!
.
Hey, where do you go if you need some Dutchistanies? Of course the ORG Frontroom! :laugh4: I'll -hopefully- be at The Hague on (and maybe around) the 22nd/23rd of May for the entrance exams to the Royal Conservatory. Can anybody recommend a budget yet quality place to stay? A cheap but clean hotel or something else?
Also, as a lower priority, do you know any good places serving Muslim or Kosher (Jewish) food? (Lower priority because at worst case I'll manage with vegetarian menus etc.)
C'mon mates! :juggle2:

Re: Anybody from/at/knowing The Hague? Need help right now! yes, right NOW!!!
The Org feels like a vassal state of Netherlands already, so I'm sure you'll get what you need here.
Good luck on your journey and your exams, bro. I'm glad that you are close to your ambitions.
:2thumbsup:

There are plenty of places that serve Halal food in northwest Europe nowadays. Any stroll through a busy area should find you one. It shouldn't be a problem. They don't just serve Muslims, Turkish food is quite popular.

A budget place to stay in the Hague? Uh, claiming you're guilty of genocide? :idea2:

:laugh4: OK, screw the budget part. I'm looking at online booking sites (I have to provide a not necessarily true booking record to receive the visa) and a certain Empire Hotel costs €35 per night. I'll need to stay for maximum 2 nights, which won't bankrupt me (my *ehm* financers that is).
That sort of thing. Around 35€, never exceeding 50€. I don't want to pay more for an exam I'm not guaranteed to win. ~;)

Go to 'scheveningen', it's close to Den Haag and has the added benefit of a beach, and plenty of hotels. And you shouldn't have any trouble finding muslim/kosher food.

I can stay the night(s) in Amsterdam or any nearby town too. The travel times are funny! :laugh4: A two hour ride is a daily short trip within Istanbul. :wall:

I've always doubted the Hallal-ness of our kebab though, I'm sure there's pork in there somewhere...

Re: Anybody from/at/knowing The Hague? Need help right now! yes, right NOW!!!
I actually live very close to The Hague (Leiden), and a good friend of mine is from there. However, he is in Italy at the moment, so I couldn't ask him.
Here are some sites:
Official visitors site
Restaurants in The Hague
As I never stay in The Hague myself, I can't really recommend any places to stay. If you're searching on the web, it might help to remember that in Dutch, The Hague is actually called either 's Gravenhage (officially) or Den Haag (colloquially).
Are you planning to Study in The Hague Mouzafphaerre?

Re: Anybody from/at/knowing The Hague? Need help right now! yes, right NOW!!!

I hope so, if I pass the exams. But as I said above, travel times are nothing compared to going from one side of Istanbul to another, so I don't have to stay inside Den Haag.
Comon guys, show me a place to sleep! :jumping: It may be in The Hague, Amsterdam or somewhere in two hours' reach from the Hague.

Live my first few years there, it is a bleak place. But I just checked the train time, and it looks like a train leaves there every fifteen minutes and arrives with in ten.
Good luck!

Very encouraging! :laugh4: Now take this: Average travel time from one place in Istanbul to another on public transport during the busy hours (not much, just 12 of the 24 :laugh4:) is an hour. You have to share your town with 12 million tailless primates, all of whom being from somewhere else, even if they were born there :inquisitive:; spitting, sliming, pissing and swearing on it... (Backroomish rant:) :wall:
I would consider finding a way of never returning, hadn't I loved this messy hole this crazily! ~:mecry: I took a longish walk home tonight from a friend's and made sure once again that I can never ever leave it permanently...

While the headmaster gives a conformist lecture about the revolutions and half made up heroic deeds of forgotten times, rascals smoke their weed sitting on the back wall of the school right across the street, at the very heart of the historical peninsula, 6 minute walk from the local government buildings and behind the nose of the police patrols who have forsaken the street for the past 9 months...
Wait, you never told us you're from Paris...

You would regret your words in two months Monsieur Capet! :laugh4: Still, I guess we both have the right to laugh at these Dutchies complaining about loneliness and bleak towns. ~;)

You've never been to Holland have you ? Those endless rows of similar houses, all bleak, with as little personal touch as possible are one of the most depressing things I've ever seen.

For six days (including the arrival and leave) and five nights I don't think I'll mind as little personal touch as possible. ~;) Endless rows of similar houses... I remember somebody mentioning that. Still it can't be worse than endless rows of similar piles of cement.

Doesn't look bad at all. Might be boring after a while though.
One could get lost easily if all the streets look alike. ~

Wait, someone from Fugliestan is calling Holland depressing? If you want the joy drained right out of you visit the endless grey called Belgium, it could suck the fun out of a blowjob.
But, you will always have Brugge, and we want it back.

The most upper north perhaps, that looks pretty decent, almost dutch standards ~;) The more you go south the sadder it gets, and when you reach Wallonie you feel like there was never a reason to ever smile. Gray gray gray and more gray. Worst is when you enter belgium from Maastricht, don't know what that town is called but geez just kill me now, I can't take it :shame:

Seems nicer than some Dutch places I've been to at least, still, I'd rather stay in Leuven
