Ok I have played RTW since it came out and BI and have moved on to some of the Mods. In every game I’ve played if I start a war or they start a war with me I can never make peace again they always seem to want money there settlements back or just generally want to see me dead even if I’m beating them by miles.
My enemies hate me and I don’t want them too.
Always, always honour your treaties. If you have trade rights or alliances with a faction, don't attack them. Better still, just don't provoke wars. When you offer assistance, give it. If they still reject your demands, give them some cash gifts. Small or large, doesn't matter. They'll bow to your demands eventually, as long as your faction is honourable and does them favours.
What have you been smoking? No matter what I do, I get attacked by another faction every turn. Once, to test, I actually gave Egypt their 30,000 denarii and 4 settlements. I got attacked the SAME turn.
You help them kill someone, give the poor a bit of cash, not give your neighbors an advantage.
No, I don't smoke.. If you're playig vanilla, don't trust Egypt, ever. Also, what version of RTW are you patched to? Certain patches have pretty much no diplomacy whatsoever.

Not really, at least as far as I can tell. Allies will backstab you sooner or later and protectorates, or any allies at all, for that matter, will cancel when you attack their allies. The fact that I know of no way to get them to cancel their alliances with you future targets makes matters worse. If there were a way it wouldn´t be much of a problem, it would merely add to the diplomatic struggle (which would be a good thing in my opinion), but as it is now there´s no way to make two AI factions cancel their mutual alliance.
