Modifying terrain appearance on strat map?
Can't find any guide to changing appearance of terrain types, but judging from screen shots some mods seem to have managed it.
Am especially interested in modifying mountains high and mountains low so they follow the heights.tga more exactly. At the moment mountains low seems to round heights down and mountains high adds non-existent peaks.
Any ideas?
Also can anyone explain how the models_landscape/textures are applied? I can't figure out relationship with them and the step.dds's and what i see on the map.

Mountains high adds peaks. All the peaks you see in the original map are made using mountains high. I believe there is a .CAS model for that peak, you could try editing that.

The textures used for each ground type for each climate are defined in \Data\descr_aerial_map_ground_types.txt
These texture files are found in \Data\terrain\aerial_map\ground_types\

Thanks, Myddraal, had hoped there might be something text or .tga related, I don't have a modelling program so that's the end of that one.
:2thumbsup: Encaitar, that explains where the annoying diagonal stripe in desert terrain, and the farming pattern come from - was looking in the wrong places altogether for that, thanks.
