Im hitting a problem when i try and add a region and settlement ive editied the relevent txt files but when i load up the campaign it crashes back to the menu then i exit and the error message was something similar to this '...descr_regions.txt 940 colum 1' so on then underneath it said 'cannt find region Test_1 in stringtable'.
If anyone knows the problem could they reply please.
Sorry if you know all this already, basic procedure would be...Open descr_regions.txt in notepad, use edit, go to, '940' to find line it's moaning about see if there is any obvious spelling errors etc.
also make sure format is:
Region name
City name
etc.
and not reversed.
ive done all that and its all fine.
doublecheck you have added new regions correctly into:
data/text/campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt
&
In data/world/maps/campaign/campaign into:
descr_regions.txt
descr_strat.txt &
descr_regions_and_settlement_name_lookup.txt
Region names are case sensitive and generally need _ instead of space between words, follow existing format in files (region name and not city name is needed in descr_strat).
If you are replacing an existing region you also should check if old one appears in
descr_mercenaries.txt or
descr_win_conditions.txt but that doesn't sound like the right type of error.
Only other one for new regions I remember is I think someone reported that certain RGB colours don't work (don't know what message that generated though).
(EDIT: am assuming you have added new regions with unique colour in map_regions.tga)
Ive been told it might be a prob with the '...regions_and_settlements'. Is there any perticular way to put it in there?
The one in data/text uses the squiggly brackets you just follow what is above
i.e.
{Cyrenaica} Cyrenaica
{Cyrene} Cyrene
{Region_name} tab tab tab In game region name
{City_name} tab tab tab In game city name
Bit in brackets must tie up with spelling etc in descr_regions.txt, text outside bracket can be whatever you want to appear in game
descr_regions_and_settlement_name_lookup.txt
just uses:
Cyrenaica
Cyrene
Region_name
City_name
again that is names as used in descr_regions.txt
NB: You need a different name for the region than that used for the city.
If that is all OK - silly thought - I wonder if it minds having number in region name, maybe try Test_A instead.
