Rome Total War Multiplayer Campaign, Want To Play PBEM?

hi,
I will be launching a PBEM game so everyone can play it ^_^

Factions:

Julii: RickFGS
Brutii: Luigiman
Scipii: TheQuickSilver
Senate:
Egypt: shadowarmy75
Seleucid Empire: Silver Rusher

Parthia: Wishazu
Gauls: Shadows

Britons: Myrddraal [will join 13th June]

Remember that you don't need all the factions to be played by humans (if you take into account the potential problems in the readme). The current 5 of you could play... It would also mean you have to wait less for your turn.

Also remember: You can re-generate the script half way through a game. So if another player wants to join, or maybe if one player gets destroyed early on, they can take over from the AI by regenerating the script and updating everyones copy. Similarly if another player wants to drop out their faction can be taken over by the AI.

I've had to move the version required from v1.5 to vanilla after serious problems with changing the factions

What were you trying to change, the turn order? Remember that the turn order is simply based on the order they appear in descr_strat.txt. Not the list at the top, the order of that actual entries.

I won't be able to play for a couple of weeks, but would you mind if I join half way through (I'll take whatever faction is availiable)

Actually seems quite interesting. I'm more of an MP guy, relying on battle skill in campaigns, which obviously I lose here. However I'll make up the numbers and it should be fun.

I'll take Armenia if at all possible (never played a campaign with them, they look interesting though).

i've got all the necessary stuff done so it will help you play the campaign

So are Romans staying as AI? Reasons? Remember, if it's because of units then you have to remember this is MP, so perhaps a Gallic-Carthaginian alliance would keep them in check? :D

I know I'll be trying to "stick it to the man", bring it on superpowers :P

Btw, will there be a diplomacy thread, or will it be done via PMs on this forum? XFire could be good for it imo, mine is monarchtw if anyones interested.

When you say Vanilla version, do you mean the original unpatched version of the game?

yes as it is the best version for the Multiplayer Campaign...

unless there is a version better for the campaign?

I think a private forum would be better than a offline website as it has more security.

The Game will start on the 4th Of June, this will give you enough time to plan out your strategy
Edit: I will also sent all the players of the game the files needed for the game to run on that date

Can we please play on the 1.5 patch? I don't fancy installing again and playing on unpatches versions is never reccomended.

Oh and UltraWar I got your email, I suppose I could add you but I am very rarely on MSN, however, normally, when I'm on my PC I'm on xfire...thats the best way to talk to me.

Myrdraal said it'll probably work with mods like Rome total realism, I'm almost positive It'll work with 1.5 :2thumbsup:

I'll start off a faction, though I'll have to leave a moth after the game starts so I dunno if its worth it. If you don't mind, I'll take Iberia(Spain)

And Monarch, isn't RTR on version 1.2 or 1.3, so theres a big difference between 1.3 and RTR and 1.5

RTR is on like 6.3 or something like that, lol. Perhaps your getting your RTRs and RTWs mixed up?

Anyway, I was merely saying if, like Myrdraal said, this script works on some mods, then it'll obviously work on a patch of the vanilla game.

i will reinstall my rome total war game and will try again from scratch... [will try again with v1.5]

I think somewhere we should have a dissucsion forum soon. Or maybe a really big chat on MSN messenger.

econ21 has suggested we use the Throne Room as a diplomacy forum / discussion forum. I think that sounds like a good idea as the throne room is the home of all play by email style things at the .org.

No. RTR is desogned for RTW v1.3. It has to be changed in order to be put with v1.5. So working for RTWv1.3 is one thing, but RTR is pretty much the same. v1.5 is very different, there is no RTR for v1.5 except a beta.

You can join halfway through remember, that's what I plan to do.

In laymans terms:

You will recieve some files from Ultra War, install them.

When it's your turn, you will recieve a file by email: Quicksave.sav, copy this file to C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\saves

Run rome and load this save game. Then you must run a script, this is done by these simple steps:
Press F1
Click the question mark (?) button on the top right of the scroll which appears, the advisor will appear giving you advice etc, ignore the advice and press the "Show me How" button.

Then you just play your turn as you would like, press end turn. The game will save and lock when it comes to the next player. Quit and send on the Quicksave.sav file.

I want to change my faction then. Can i please be Potnus seeing as the prvious pontic player has pulled out and give Selecuids to Silver Rusher. thanks
