Can RTW generals get titles like "the great"
Like the title says i was wondering if a RTW general can get titles. Like i have a seleucid general named Alexander. I want him to lead attcks on egypt and hopefully be called "the great". Is this possible? if so can someone post a pic of their general whos called "the great" or "the conqueror"? thanks

Re: Can RTW generals get titles like "the great"
Yes it is possible.
Look at the two bottom leaders in the list on the left. Cunning and Conqueror. Cunning is for the faction leader who uses lots of spies. Conqueror is I think for a leader who eliminates faction(s).

I have seen "Great" before.

Re: Can RTW generals get titles like "the great"
If you kill a few, I think you get "Scarface" (with the "). A few victories, and you get 'Victor'. Then, I had a few generals who had passed this stage. One got 'the Brave', one got 'the Great'. If he comes to age crippled, he is 'the Crippled'. Not sure about the rest, but I know there are more.
Non-military: 'the Killer' is from using assassins (unsure about this). 'the Cunning' is from using spies and assassins. Both are only obtainable by the faction leader.

Re: Can RTW generals get titles like "the great"
I have had one general out of all my RTW career be called "The Great." Mind you, he was a godly general, and pretty much singlehandedly wiped out two factions. Sadly, I'm not sure of the trait that triggered it.
Other titles like "Victor/The Conqueror" and "The Mighty" are easier to come by. Just keep winning battles.
Other characteristics are out of your control. I had an FL once with the title of "The Morbid". Likewise, "The Cunning" I believe comes from the trait "Exceptional Ambusher" and one was "The Orator."

I think it is from the legendary commander trait. That one does have an epithet, and "The Great" seems the most appropriate. "Scarface" comes from the scarred-trait, which you general obtains if he regularly loses most of his hitpoints during battle. "The Killer" can be obtained both by succesfull assassins as by faction leaders who recruit a lot of them.

Re: Can RTW generals get titles like "the great"
Here is my general "Kaeso the Great"
https://img86.imageshack.us/img86/81...reat3vv.th.jpg
He commanded Brutii forces in a H/H difficulty imperial campaign. His sphere of operations included fights in Thermon, Athens, Sparta (Historic battle), Larissa, Thessolonica, Bylazora, Porrolissum, Campus Lazyges, and Lovosice.
Whilst I was looking for 'the great' in my saved games I came across these:
- a 'Victor' in the Prologue and during Julii Imperial (M/M)
- 'Decius the Mad'..from a Dangerously Mad trait (-3 Command, -3 Management, -2 Influence)
- 'Marcus the Cunning' (I get this often) Spy and Assassin use.
- 'Decius the Handsome'..Godlike perfection trait. He had 2 sibling brothers. One also had this so was also 'Gaius the Handsome'. Other sibling had mere 'Handsome' trait so didnt get the name.
- 'Lewd' in a Carthage swap game. As it was a 'succesion campaign' and that was my character I think the person giving me the game had a laugh at that.:laugh4:
- Seen 'Honest' amongst Carthage generals in particular.

Re: Can RTW generals get titles like "the great"
Is there such thing as "the Coward". I thought I saw something like that from a Gallic general. If there is something like that, my guess is it comes from running from a lot of battles.

Re: Can RTW generals get titles like "the great"
I've had many of the traits listed above, btut never the Great. I've had the Conqueror a lot. I als oremember I had these two brothers at he same time, they were ''The Brave" and "The Victor", they pretty much conquered all off spain and Gaul together. I laso remember a general of mine who had he's name changed in game. He went from Amulius Tiberius? to Amulius Victor. Never had a title, just had his name changed instead. That was the first time I had seen that effect.

Re: Can RTW generals get titles like "the great"
Kiya (starting field general for Egypt) went on to become Kiya the Great, Kiya the Conqueror, Kiya the Bloody. He had many traits. Best general/faction leader I've had. :cheerleader:
-
Re: Can RTW generals get titles like "the great"
You had Kiya become your main starting general? Interesting. I used Khnumhoptep (or something), who was the starting heir. Kiya was Khnumhoptep's backup. I guess whoever your main starting Egyptian general is, they automatically become awesome because Khnumhoptep lived to be 80 and conquered significant portions of the Seleucids, Armenia, and Parthia.

Re: Can RTW generals get titles like "the great"
My Spy Hanno Alalia just spotted 'Publius the Mean'. For being 'Foul mouthed' perhaps ?

He is the SPQR faction leader in the Carthage game we are playing in the PbM section of this forum.
My spy earned +1 spy skill for finding him. Seemed a neat result for spotting such a prime target.

That's nothing. My Kiya led the campaign that expanded the Ptolemaic Empire's borders to the Caspian Sea and later into the Aegean. He died aged 87 (possibly 89?) just after taking Athens.

Re: Can RTW generals get titles like "the great"
Touché, Craterus.
If I ever play as Egypt again (highly unlikely, since I have a lineup of factions and then M2TW comes out), I shall steer Kiya to glory.

Re: Can RTW generals get titles like "the great"
Speaking about "the great" title. Who else thinks pompey should not be called pompey the great?? His cogmen was 'magnus' which in latin was the great. The problem was, he called himself that. A person's nickname should be what someone else calls him, not what he calls himself.
And yes, iv seen the great title in RTW.

In Pompey's defence, it was his soldiers that first hailed him as "magnus". Sulla, who had made himself dictator of Rome at that point, also called him this, probably because he found Pompey a useful tool, and a tool very susceptible to flattery of this kind.

Victor is a title. The Romans have cognomons (nick names), Victor means Victorius. The equivelant of "Conqerer" I expect.

I have a general who's title is Secundus "The Good". Anyone know how I got this? He used to be "The Victor".

I think it has something to do with the benevolent ruler trait.

Re: Can RTW generals get titles like "the great"
What about the "Infantryman?" I had one general who was known as Tiberius the Infantryman. His son was the best general I ever had, first Asinius the Mighty then Asinius the Great. Brought three factions down: Britons, Germans and the SPQR. His cousin, a general had the title "the Might" and "Conqueror" Guess it all runs in the family. Sadly, my bro uninstalled the game so I lost my game :furious3:

Re: Can RTW generals get titles like "the great"
Decius the Great, just after he earned the title by eliminating the last of the rebels in Iberia. He single handedly took down both Gaul and Spain as well as Carthago Nova from the Carthaginians before staying there to quell unrest.
Sadly he died the very next turn ~:pissed:

Re: Can RTW generals get titles like "the great"
These two are easy to procure for your faction leader:
- the cunning: use spies a lot
- the killer: use assasins a lot
Simple :balloon2:
