Adding the little things to new units
I made a mod where I added a few new units to be used by a new faction. For the graphics, I just copied graphics of things that were close to what I was looking for. I ran into an issue though. I asked around the Entrance Hall, but no one there could help, and Ludens  started a thread for me but it didn't get any replies. Now that I'm a full member, I thought I'd give it another try.
Right, here it goes. I made a new spearman-like unit and based it off the Swiss Armoured Pikemen. With Gnome Editor  I gave it a Pavise shield. The problem is, when my spearman-thingy took to the field, he left it at home! The graphic for the pavise doesn't show up. It seems like it works, because they don't take that much damage from archers, but I thought it would be cool if I could get the graphic to show up on the units on the battlefield (I don't really care about the icons or anything like that, I just want to see my guys carrying around those big shields). Similar to this, I made a cavalry based off the Lancer units and gave him a sword instead of a lance, but he still carries around a lance. Lastly, I made a horse archer based off the Jinette, but gave him a bow instead of the javelin (this one's kinda funny looking; he goes through all the motions of throwing a spear, with the spear in hand, and then at the last second an arrow flies out of the middle of the spear).

Re: Adding the little things to new units
Did you just change the setting from the Gnome Editor only? Because u still have to add the actual shield appearance to the spearmen model.
Go to your Medieval Total War folder, click on the Textures folders, then on Men folder and finally on the Peasant folder.
In this folder, there is a selection of BIF and textfiles. To view and edit BIFs u need a BIF reader, found here:- http://www.mizus.com/Tools/Files/ . It's the file named ' RSW_read_bif_buf_v22'.
You can find several tutorials that may help u by following this link:-

Hope this helps abit!:sweatdrop:
Goodluck with your modding!:2thumbsup:
Thanks,

Re: Adding the little things to new units
hmm...I was afraid of that. I didn't want to have to work on any of the artsy stuff like editing .bifs. I'll check out that tutorial anyway though. Thanks.
