Hello Byzantium TW Fans!!
This will be our last update till July, as the team leader(edyzmedieval) is away with personal issues. Anyhow, we are showing you as always new and exciting units about the mod, and we hope you shall enjoy them as much as we did making them! :)
We are in desperate need of skinners and modellers to continue the progress of the mod. Unfortunately, our skinners are away and we are unable to continue the progress of the mod, at about 30%.
In July, we shall exhibit a new update and possibly 2 factions previews, so get ready. :D
Here are the units, all made by blindfaithnogod.
Fatimid Infantry Officer

Every army needs individuals to control smaller sections of its troops. The Fatimids are no exception and have officers which are every bit as professional as their Byzantine and Ottoman equivalents. They are armed with a sword and shield and are far better paid than their inferiors. These men are exceptional fighters and will make sure the Fatimid shield wall remains just that, a shield wall. Armoured, they can stand much better than their inferiors, making them an inspiration for ordinary soldiers.
Kataphraktoi Promachoi

Kataphratoi Promachoi are heavy cavalry armed with lances, a sword and a shield. Although not quite as heavily armoured as the Klibanophoroi, Kataphractoi Promachoi are easily the equals of western knights. It could be argued that Kataphratoi are in fact better than Klibanophoroi; as the reduced protection gives them far more mobility. Byzantine generals must not make the mistake of using these alone and unsupported, doing so will lead to defeat.
Armenian Infantry

Armenian Infantry are mercenaries who carry a sword and shield for use in battle. They wear chainmail armour which provides an adequate level of protection, although not exceptional. These infantry will comfortably defeat most enemy infantry; they will struggle however against more elite troops such as the Varangian Guard.
Ghulam/Fatimid Cavalry

Ghulam Cavalry are medium armoured cavalry armed with a lance and a shield for protection. They are slaves but should not be underestimated because of this. In the Islamic world being a slave was actually seen as an honour. Ghulams should easily defeat light cavalry but will struggle against the most elite cavalry of their foes. Heavy Infantry and Spearmen should also be avoided; unless the Ghulams are on their flanks.
General and his Bodyguards

The most crucial man in all armies is its commander. Its a good job then that Byzantine generals have a bodyguard of Klibanophoroi to protect them. Klibanophoroi provide the perfect bodyguard as they are the most heavily armoured soldiers in the entire Byzantine army. That does not mean that they should be used unsupported though; a masse of enemy troops could easily overwhelm them.
Pecheneg Warriors(reskinned)

On the steppes fighting on horseback is what all true warriors aspire to. Sadly however there arnt enough horses to go around; so many men have to make do with fighting on foot. Despite being undervalued by the more "noble" horsemen, Pecheneg Warriors are very versatile as they can fight well both from a distance and in close combat. Most cavalry will easily defeat them though and so caution is advised.
