Given that I'm not familiar with every faction in MTW/VI, I'll just list a few here (you already listed the Turks and their Jannissaries, so I shan't repeat them).....
English: Mercian-trained Billmen, Welsh-trained Longbowmen
Spanish: Jinnettes, Lancers
Byzantines: Varangian Guard, Pronoai Allagion
Danes: Huscarles
HRE: Gothic Knights, Swiss Armoured Pikeman
Almos: Almohad Urban Militia
French: Tolouse-trained Chivalric Knights
I really like the Byz horse archers as well
Italians: the Italian infantry, in early i use them for almost everything where they don't have to run.
And of course some units from a particular province everyone can use, like
Gallow Glasses (especially in early they rock)
In MTW:VI:
Vikings: JOMS. When they are teched up, 1 unit can slaughter like thousands of peasants, UM and Fyrds, not even losing half of the unit.:viking:

Not really a faction related unit but Swiss armoured pikemen are probably the most powerfull unit, followed by the Heavy Jannies and the Vang. guards. Neither of them is very fun to use though.
Gothic Sergeants are pretty tough as HRE troops, too - although painfully slow...
In RTW V1.5 against the AI I suggest it is the Egyptian Chariot archer Generals. Archery, speed, and devastating spiked rear wheels which is deadly against most types of cavalry.

War Elephants are easily defeated, just amok them with flaming arrows so that they help instead of hinder your faction.

I found new a unit. it is name, cataphrats ( it is only selecuid and parthia)
if your army only has this unıt ( it has not another unıt), everytime you will win all your battles.
if you dont believe me, try it.
kataphrats are great troops and proberly the best of the byz.
English it's easily the billman and longbow combo together.
Danes the most powerful huscarles? or maybe berserkers:juggle2:

DONT you dare say steppe calvary suck. They fly pass the enemy at 100mph and pack a punch if the charge someone. incredibly easy to flank somebody with those babys.
in MTW every cristian faction that has chivalric foot knight; that is there strongest unit. in RTW: Spartans and Urban Cohorts. THEY ARE EQUAL. Once i played as Spartans they won. But when i played as Urbans they won.
btw chivalric foot knights are much stronger than billmen. and kill cavalry easy. they rout in like 8,10 seconds.
vang. guards are great too. oh yea forgot about them. they are quite strong. but for some reason patch 1.1 wont let you recruit them anymore. unless you play as swiss. (you have to mod to do that.)Quote:

Camels are definately the best unit...
they can defeat any cavelry unit without problems (except ranged cav) and do pretty decent vs. infantry as well. Besides that, they're pretty cheap.
Almohad: Faris (AUM are ok but not ground shaking, the Elmos definitely need horse archers against the lumbering catholic armies)
Byzantine: varangian guards (eat Janissaries for breakfast)
Aragonese/Spanish: lancers
Danes: huscarles obviously
English: longbowmen
Egypt: probably camels, Egypt doesn't really have a special lineup
French: chivalric knights
Hungarian: skezily (sp?) horse archers
HRE: gothic knights
Italians: gothic knights. Italian infantry is great too.
Turks: Janissary heavy infantry (honorable mention to the normal JI)
Russians: boyars (but steppe heavy cavalry is more cost efficient)

Jinettes, Highland Clansmen, Naptha Throwers, Bulgarian Brigands, any of the skirmishing units,and Jannisary Infantry
I think that sums it up. I know some of them aren't the best ones, they are just the ones that I remember performing the best for me. Although I might have left out later period ones, most of my games start in Early and end in High.

ok. we have to give new ideas.
I think, heavy cavalry of the ottoman empire is most powerfull warriors in the medieval age. this army of the ottoman only is formed horsemans. there arent infintry this group. because for this army most speedy and powerfull. this unıt has equipment only arch and sword. it has shield and full armored.
this unıt goes to enemy lands before main ottoman army and battle the enemy armies. so enemy armies get tired before main battle. in the time the battle, ottoman armies win the battle easily.
