HOT GREEK HOPLITE ACTION!!!!(Titan Quest)[warning: partial nudity and violence]

Titan Quest is a diablo 2 like game, it is made by Iron Lore and published by THQ, some of the team involved also made Age of Empires. It will be released this 26th of June in the states.

Ok now my take on the game, this game is a meld of historical and fantasy that plays exactly like diablo 2, but i'd like to point out some things you history nuts would appreciate, YOU CAN HOLD A SPEAR AND A SHIELD AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!!! Rad isn't it? the guys did their homework though, the spear is held in classical greek hoplite style (over the shoulder) and i have to say i had some hot historical orgasms becuase of that.

Now onto the more technical parts, the game has 8 masteries with a ton of skills, they are Defense, Warfare, Hunting, Rogue, Nature, Storm, Spirit and Earth. The game assigns you a class after you choose your mastery, but it depends on what mastery you choose, so specialising in one mastery like Warfare will make you a Warrior, but if you specialise in 2 masteries like Warfare and Hunting will make you into a Slayer , there are a total of 36 classes in the game so you can mix and match to see which once fits you the best.

The gameplay compared to diablo is a a bit slower and can be grindy (killing alot of monsters), though from my experience i had a blast so i didn't feel bored or anything, the environments are pretty cool too, the setting is the entire Peloponnesus (all with authentic locations too!, like Laconia and some mycenean ruins) so there is a lot to explore in the game, the terrain is very well done with farmlands and cities dotting the landscape, and the enemies are pretty varied so you'll never be bored ever.

One cool bit of the game is physics, the enemies you kill die using ragdoll physics, also the items they carry are visible on them, so if you see an enemy with armor or a weapon you can loot it from it after you kill it. The items themselves have physical properties so they roll and tumble when the enemy dies. Oh and the ragdoll physics can be pretty funny if you get a high enough level and return to the begining of the game to kill the enemies(they literally fly off the screen!).

To spice things up the game also has Egypt and China thrown in with their own mythologies, armours and weapons and the game is as long as Diablo 2(minus the expansion). And if you ever feel bored there is an easy to use editor to create maps and scenarios for the game(since the game isn't random, so its pretty linear in comparison to diablo 2).

In the end all i have to say is GET THIS GAME if you like diablo 2 clones.

NOTICE: I recommend trying the demo first, who knows, you might not like it.

EDIT: for those wondering, yes the Peloponnese also includes Crete.

I hope the online play is different from DiabloII, though. EVERYBODY (well 90%) used hacked items in that game. The game had only 5 acts wich you klept playing indefinitely, so in the end it was just a game of hack&slash monsters to level up. And the list of complaints goes on...

EDIT: I watched the trailers, and all I keep seeing is characters dual weilding swords :wall:
Also, there's no PVP. Personally I won't miss that feature though.

no!!!!! the download is too big!!

I found the gameplay and camera movements rather poor. Not worth any more than $29.99....tops

I have played it alittle and I like what I saw unfortunately the game crashed after a short while.
And after reading some posts by other people it seems that crashing is very common.
So I would wait for a patch ~;)

The demo crashes alot for people with dualcore, also in some rarer cases it crashes for no reason at all. You might want to disable one core via task manager for it to work.

The retail game is very stable however, alot of people who complained from the demo found out the retail was much stabler.

I don't have dualcore :laugh4: .
But I have only had 1 crash today which is good and enjoying the game.
Just cleaned out the temple near Megarra(think that what the town is called) but can't continue because there is a huge cyclops in the way and I can't kill him:wall: .

I cant get to sparta :/

I'll give it a shot anyways...maybe this game'll go on my list.

Played the full game for a few hours at a friends house, it's fun. It is a diablo clone done right, it looks great, camara lags a bit behind though. It won't be your game of the year but it is sure to keep you busy for a while, there is a lot of enemy variation, and the titans are pretty intimidating. What I don't like, you are already pretty strong at level 1, it's not supposed to be like that.

Do you only get one guy to quest with or can you form a party with NPC's?

Got it, feels like a good-looking D2 clone with some optimization and bug issues. (No crashes for me though.)

Only one guy, it's an action-RPG reminiscent of Diablo. Some professions can summon critters that can be given movement commands, but that's about it.

If you play online or on LAN, you can form parties with other players of course.
