Re: YOUR Name, Address, phone#,and DOB free online database. Scary.
It's times like these that hiding in plain sight is best. I never thought I'd be so glad to have a Smith/Jones/Johnson type last name. I received over 117 entries for my name. ~:thumb:

Re: YOUR Name, Address, phone#,and DOB free online database. Scary.
Apparently there are 8 of me, but none of them are me. Most are older, and look like fathers with sons...
EDIT: Oh, crap, I am on there, listed as a "possible" relative of my dad (who I looked up). This is b.s.! :furious3: :furious3: :furious3:
Sometimes I hate the world...~:pissed: ~:pissed: ~:pissed:

I noticed that it is predicated upon the amount of public records you have. Buying a house, going to jail, liens, pretty much anything have to do with a county recorder. It also takes into notice your credit history and mailing address changes. I have 3 versions of me in the system with my last three addresses. The most recent one is sickengly accurate down to my age, telephone number, and home address. My wife, on the other hand, is barely a mention since she has little credit history. Weird. I also found two old friends from high school who would probably freak out if I contacted them.
Edit: Ya that family member thing is SUPER creepy.

Re: YOUR Name, Address, phone#,and DOB free online database. Scary.
This is way outdated. I found my dad's name from 3 houses ago in 2001. I'm not to worried.
Edit: Crap... it does have my current city.

Re: YOUR Name, Address, phone#,and DOB free online database. Scary.
Eee. I'm not on it, but my dad is, both at my old house and the current one!
My name's not generic enough. :help:

I don't qualify, but I'm sure I'd show up on it if I did.

This is one of many such search engines -- and it doesn't appear to be one of the better ones. Until someone, somewhere makes this sort of thing illegal, kiss your tattered shreds of privacy goodbye.
Oh, and for those who argue that we have no constitutional right to privacy, I've always wondered whether the fourth amendment might apply:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
A right to not be subject to "unreasonable searches" certainly sounds like it might apply. And even if you argue that this right only applies to the Government's activities, and not to any other body, there's the fallback position with the ninth amendment.

Don't worry, Lemur, we are on the same page here. Stuff like this should be illegal.

Re: YOUR Name, Address, phone#,and DOB free online database. Scary.
Well hell, I feel unloved. They didn't even have my full name and and the address listed is oooooold. That's sad.
-
Re: YOUR Name, Address, phone#,and DOB free online database. Scary.
I am safe, I doubt anyone would bother with something like this for New Zealand because it is far too small and uninteresting for anyone to bother ~D
Though I agree that it should be illegal.

Re: YOUR Name, Address, phone#,and DOB free online database. Scary.
Ha! We legal immigrants with our imcomprehensible names are safe from these evil search engines! Mwahaha!
I'd probably even use these kinds of big brother terrors someday for my own benefits, maybe calling a high school friend in complete surprise ten years after this or something...
It's gonna be fun.

Re: YOUR Name, Address, phone#,and DOB free online database. Scary.
I found several old records of my past residences, but not my current one.
I don't know why this is scary anyway. So what if people can find out where you live? Ever heard of a phone book? (Of course, you can always make yourself unlisted... but that's usually for specific reasons.)

Funny how you yourself can accidentally corrupt this data
