Bridge over Danube could be named after Chuck Norris
A new bridge in Hungary could be named after the action film actor Chuck Norris after officials left the naming to an internet vote.
Votes for the Chuck Norris Bridge have so far attracted 11 per cent, of the vote, organised by the Ministry for the Economy.
That puts it just ahead of naming the bridge after Hungarian humorist Geza Hofi and three times more popular than naming it after state founder Szent Istvan.
Votes can be cast until September 8 on the website www.m0hid.gov.hu There are more that 500 nominations, as well as names referring to delays, such as 'It Will Never Happen Bridge'.
A government committee will review the three winning names, as well as other proposals put forward by local governments, cartographers, linguists and others.
The bridge over the Danube is due to open in 2008.
The site is down currently to vote but it seems as if anyone can participate in the selection. Right now I believe Chuck is in third.
Come on Hungary, if you name the bridge after Chuck then you will never need to replace it, ever.

It's about time Chuck Norris gets recognition. I think the US should follow suit and build a monument to him in DC.

Why would you name a bridge after him? Chuck Norris doesn't use bridges. A swift karate chop causes the waters to part and he walks across on dry land.

As long as the bridge, and surrounding area, have strong fences and barriers to prevent going off the road.

Yes, if the bridge should be named after Jean-Claude it should be Jean-Claude Van Varenberg (his real name).
Besides what does Chuck Norris have that Jean-Claude, Silvester, Arnold and Steven don't have. I say let them fight over it and the winner will give the bridge its name. Should be great as a movie script.
