Re: Character's images in Alexander
A lot..
Was too wierd.. My phalanx losing to normal cavalry.. (After I got used to it, it go really easy then.. So basically, get attacked, win, move in a bit, get attacked, win, etc..)
-
Re: Character's images in Alexander
hm.. try it on hard (Battle&campaign) still easy? try vh.
-
Re: Character's images in Alexander
If you manage to only get attacked.. Just deploy a phalanx tight formation and wait..

Re: Character's images in Alexander
Back to topic, from what I remember of playing the game, there aren't any new portraits except for Alexander himself. The Persians use the leader pictures for the RTW Eastern factions, while the Macedonian family members use the original RTW portraits for the Hellenic factions. So if you've played RTW, you've seen all the portraits that are in Alexander except for Alexander's himself.

Re: Character's images in Alexander
well for the Greeks that doesnt matter but for the Persians........
can i see Alexander's special portriat please?

Re: Character's images in Alexander
There is no India on the Campaign map.

Re: Character's images in Alexander
Also Alexander has his own unique general model. And the Macedonian models are different.
Alexander on the campagin map.

Parmenion

The Persians just use the eastern ones as was said.

Re: Character's images in Alexander
wow! nice. you must have been exterminating alot with Alexander.
-
Re: Character's images in Alexander
I don't know if you have Alexander but in lieu of a intro movie CA put in a cut scene of sorts. When you load up the campagin Brian Blessed voice starts on with an introduciton. He told me to exterminate to keep control, so exterminate I did. devil:

Re: Character's images in Alexander
that's a bit crazy.
maybe exterminate the Greek Cities, but the rest? it would be better if Alexander could take over eastern cities without any trouble. like in history...
-
Re: Character's images in Alexander
Well there is only 1 Greek city, Sparta. And you start controlling it. The map is very stylized (It looks a lot like the maps shown in the movie Alexander) and abreviated. There are only 32 or 33 provinces and 1 is India which you can't get to.

Re: Character's images in Alexander
how? try turning off the fog of war. where are the indians? can you show a pic?

Yes, that really puts me of this campaign. I don't like exterminating and I don't think Alexander did it to the extent to which this campaign is geared (did he do it twice or something?). Does anyone know if Alexander enslaved the cities?
Any modders know how to change the default happiness of a settlement?
I'd like to give this campaign a go with a no extermination houserule (& a no retraining one) but suspect it is unplayable if you do. I'd also use the "Total Realism" mini-mod to slow movement and raise defence & morale by 10.
But I guess I'll just have to wait until Lusted finishes his mod.

Re: Character's images in Alexander
he exterminated Thebes of course.i think there was one more but i forgot.

The Indians aren't in the campagin. India is a Persian province, and it's thus impossible to defeat the Persians. As you can't cross the Indus. And the there is a line of coastal trees that are impassable. I do think a screen is in order.
-
Re: Character's images in Alexander
man, thats weird. why would CA do that?
funny however that Alexander looks like the one in the movie.
-
Re: Character's images in Alexander
CA probably didn't alot much time for development. Lots of stuff about it scream quick and "dirty". The Macedonians Persians and Barbarians are just augmented RTW factions. But India would have had to be built from scratch. You can see this in the unit line ups of the those three factions. Macedonian hoplites and phalangists are just re-skins of RTW hoplites and pikemen. Macedonian Companions, Persian hillmen and slingers, all but 2 barbarian units are just cut and pasted from RTW. India however had to have all new models. The elephants are new, the chariots, the cavalry men models, the infantry models. The works really. That takes time to get right. Then you'd need to make all new building models and city scapes.
Although there is one brainstorm I'd wish they had for RTW. The barbarians are actually 4 factions that all have the same faction colour, Mohogany. But they are actually 4 different factions, Illyria, Thrace, Scythia, and Dahae. Imagine is Rome had been done this way. 4 Roman factions all the same colour but with different symbols.

Re: Character's images in Alexander
Screen shots of Greece and India. Note on India, I enabled Persia for play. And built (via cheats for money and fast building) all the up grades for Taxila.

The map when compared to reality is rediculously inacurate. But compared to an ancient map of the same areas is nearly the same.
-
Re: Character's images in Alexander
its hideous! RTW had a way better map.
did you try BB's mini-mod for this?
-
Re: Character's images in Alexander
No. Because it added an ahistorical seperate Greek faction.

As far as I know ,Alexander did massacre Iranians around "Persepolis" when he captured there And you know that he burned it.~ And its why I hate him.

It's possible to defeat the Persians, because there is no Persian family member in Taxilia.
-
Re: Character's images in Alexander
Maybe when the campagin starts, but by the time Alexander gets to the Indus it does.
-
Re: Character's images in Alexander
Strange, I've completed the campaign 4 times, and I've always been able to defeat the Persians by killing all their family members.
-
Re: Character's images in Alexander
I let Arabia rebel. Which was retaken by that Persian army in the middle of the desert. Which probably reulted in a MotH. Then another aboption probably happened in the only other province they had left, India.
