Playing with Julii as ONLY Roman Family

hi masters of RTW moding :)

i've been trying to play as Julii asonly Roman faction in the game but i ve failed all the time.

Its the list what i've done;

1)edited descr_strat and deleted other roman family members from the text file and gave their cities to rebels, gave Julii cities to rebels as well, set Rome as the capital and the only city for Julii.(made other cities villages and deleted all their buildings cuz i wanna build them by myself)
2)Placed Julii family members and spy/diplomat in the borders of Latium.
3)Placed rebel soldiers to the cities i gave them.
4)edited descr_regions file and swaped default culture to julii as other romans wont be in the game.

what do you tihnk? whats wrong or missing?
please help me to DO IT!!

what is RGB value? maybe this can be my mistake?

RGB value is the colour of the province in map_regions.tga red green and blue. I don't think that has anything to do with what you want to do though. There was a good guide in the Scriptorium on this but I can't find it.

also searched forum by using the search bar at the top but couldnt find anything.


ok, now i know its not RGB.

but there's stg in the file;

Britannia_Inferior -> Region tag
Eburacum -> Settlement tag
britons ->Default Culture
Brigantes -> ???? (Rebels?)
232 41 198 -> RGB
lead, dogs, pigs -> Resource
5 -> tr. point
5 -> base farm level

i sadly see that there isnt any helpfull people out here...

i am trying until 11 am, still having CTDs (i write -show_err).
no warnings just CTD.

i've discovered that, when i give brutii and scipii cities to julii, camp.map loads but when i give those cities to "slaves" and make them rebel cities, the game first loads Camp.map again but when i move 1 of my army of spy or diplomat when city comes "in sight" game CTD. i mean i cannot see the city. when it stay in fog of war, its ok, but when i move close to city game CTD!!!

There is no reason to edit descr_regions.txt to do what you want to do. You should go back to using "macedon" for Etruria, Umbria, Latium, Apulia, Campania, Bruttium, and Sicilia Romanus. Also,whenever you modify descr_regions.txt, you need to delete map.rwm - the game will rebuild it.

However, my guess is that your problem is in descr_strat.txt. If you've removed all of the roman factions except the Julii, you need to remove the line "superfaction romans_senate" from what appears below:

i am using 1.2 version. there isnt "superfaction romans_senate" line.

Did you eliminate the senate?

I'm not sure if this was possible in 1.2.

Why not moving to 1.5?

cuz i cant :(
when i load 1,3 or 1,5 my compu CTD after a few minutes it loads Campaing map. (asus 128 mb 9520 Magic)

btw, i realized that if i give brutii and scipii and rome to julii, game works.
but if i give julii, brutii and scipii cities to rebels and give Rome to Julii, game doesnt work (CTD before camp.map. )

help is still needed, please HELP!

i could accidently load 1,5 patch.
i could delete brutii, scipii and senate.
gave all cities to rebel slaves and hold rome with julii.
NOW the problem is;

whenever i want to garnison some rebel troops in towns, game has a proble and will be shut down warning comes with windows.
when i empty towns,, game works as usual..

any ideas?

In order to create additional rebel armies, you need to be careful about one thing in particular: the name of the general must be a legal name for the faction which follows "sub_faction" in the first line.

In the case above, the faction is "britons" and the general's name is "Brigomaglos". If you look in the file Data\descr_names.txt, you find the name "Brigomaglos" listed for the britons faction, so this name is OK. If you were to use "Akbar" instead (which is OK for numidia and carthage, but not for the britons) the game would crash when loading the campaign map.

uh, i knew that i'd be carefull of the names but i was taking them from data\text\names.txt. now, i'll try with the way u suggested.

ok, i solved that too..
if u forgot exp. armor settings, no army appears (shame on me)
but now i have this:
invalid tile problem for a slave general (0,0) compu warns...
ideas on?

Are your general's coordinates missing or formatted incorrectly?

ok Atilius. my generals coords. were not wrong but game did say so :)
i could manage to fix it with a camp. editor program. they seem in Sahara desert. (my old generals). i placed new ones by editor. and game works after my long time tries. thank you so much btw...
i wanted to add descr_strat text here maybe someone needs it, but dunno if i could manage.

rome is in julii hands, all other roman proviences hold by rebel quite strong armies. only after marian infantry in my game. based on vanilla 1.5

I have tried something different, but I'm wanting make a unification of the romans, giving all the territories to the Julii, and making the family members of the senate, the brutians and the scpii, Julians.
Now the problem is:
How can I say:The Juliians,The Brutiians and the Scipiians and the member of the senate are brothers.
CTD when I try to start the campaign.
I open the game, start the campaign, loading, when finishes the loading bar,it crashes to the desktop:

Makanyane has mentioned somewhere in these forums that a father can have only 4 children. Is this your problem? If not, how did you name the former Senate, Brutii, and Scipii characters? Brutus and Scipio are not legal names for Julii family members. By the way, if you'd like the Brutii and Scipii characters to appear to keep their names, you might be interested in this.
