General Startup Bug Summary and FAQ
OK--- so i'm new on this particular forum. I have tried to get Europa Barborum to work several time, but i continue getting that startup error. I have read the FAQ and countless similar posts but there seems to be little concensus over what to do. I myself have downloaded from different sources but have not been successful with any of them. So I thought that I would try to enter the missing code myself. I really didn't know what I was doing but I copied the faction_destroyed data into the faction_destroyed_by_player folder hoping that this would fix it somehow. Naturally it didn't.
Can anyone tell me where to download a currently working code?
If not...
Does anyone know how to fix the missing code? I assume that for those who have a working game, the real code would be in the game data. Could someone copy that code onto this forum for myself and others to paste into the game data? Don't know if that would work but at this point i'd try anything. If you have any suggestions please let me know.
Thanks.
Re: General Startup Bug Summary and FAQ
1. Install RTW 1.0 from the CDs.
2. Install RTW 1.2 patch. You'll more than likely get an error telling you that the game is already patched. If this is the case, download the zipped version of the patch and unzip it to your RTW directory.
3. Install EB 0.72 and patch to 0.74 and try again.
If that doesn't work, you'll have to try re-downloading EB as you've probably got a corrupt download.
Re: General Startup Bug Summary and FAQ
Yeah.. Its not the 1.2 patch thats the problem. I've done it with a zip and manually and it doesn't work. It is a corrupt game file from EB.
Re: General Startup Bug Summary and FAQ
The only solution, then, is to re-download the mod, unfortunately. Or just wait for 0.8...

All of our downloadable files are confirmed to be "good". For those who keep having problems caused by the download getting corrupted, I can only suggest getting ahold of a download manager program. I don't use these myself, but other posters have stated that they solve this problem.
If anyone could make a recommendation for such programs, please do so.
Edit: Here's a recommendation from Orwell

Thank you. I will try that.
