READ ME ->on posting behaviour
Dear junior members, members & senior members,
recently some people seem to have forgotten what the Org is about.
A friendly place where everyone feels welcome, with interesting topics and discussions. A place to ask how it is that your cavelry always gets beaten by camels or how exactly you have to modify your files so elves can fight stormtroopers.
A place where people will respond in a respectful & contructive way. This is especially true for the Entrance Hall, where most new members will start.
If you haven't already, read the forum rules. If you already have, read them again. When posting, remember the rules, but just as important : use your common sense. Treat others the way you'd like to be treated yourself. If you feel something you're about to post could be taken as offensive, rephrase it or don't post it at all.
Hopefully needless to say : trolling, baiting and flaming will not be accepted. The staff has a variety of tools at their disposal to make a patrons virtual life a whole lot harder, but we don't like to use them. So please make sure there's no need for it.
If you feel offended, do not post a return-insult or a defensive post, but instead send any of the moderators a Private Message. They will act appropriately.
If you disagree with any of the above, feel free to send me a Private Message to discuss. If you think I've missed something, please post it.
-Mithrandir

Yes so when i defended a genuine response by someone who had it thrown back in his face, i broke those rules :book:
Re: READ ME ->on posting behaviour
This must be stickified.
New(and not new) members must read this, because it's important!
Caius.

If you defended the response by making personal attacks, then - yes - you would indeed have broken the rules.

It's possible to defend someone without resorting to personal attacks. We do not allow those on the Org. Not even in retaliation.
Re: READ ME ->on posting behaviour
Yeh i realise that now, oh well no wrrys it wont happen again :2thumbsup:

Point taken.
Re: READ ME ->on posting behaviour
This still doesn't explain why you, Mith, put dancing locks on my topics.

Re: READ ME ->on posting behaviour
This thread is not about moderating decisions. It's about how to interact with fellow patrons.
If you have a problem with decisions made by a moderator, contact Tosa Inu or post in the Watchtower Backroom.
Re: READ ME ->on posting behaviour
I think this is mostly about Tact, and its hard to put into words sometimes.
If a response is negative, it doesn't mean its negative of the writer personally.
The odd time in a lot of great responses I've had an answer where you can feel the 'sigh' of the post and I know i've asked something stupid or niave, but really thats the point of the Entrance Hall, and luckily everyone who has answered me has been patient and tactful.
Lets not get personal, unless its to be friends.:2thumbsup:
Re: READ ME ->on posting behaviour
If in doubt of the rules, just add in a camel or two to your post.

I beg to differ, sir! My lancers eat Berbers for lunch, dinner, and supper!

Now, as of the thread. The Entrance Hall is usually a pleasant place; new members should be able to catch the general tone of the org from here. We are usually more laid back than most forums; though also much less tolerant of The 1331 Things (tm). I believe most older members who post a lot in here are usually not at all "sighing," but geniunely helping people out.
The Backroom, however...
Guess I'll help Lemur a bit: Flat Earthers welcome, the Backroom needs you.
