"I heard that the demo needs SSE2 to run and simply won't run without it" plz tell me its not true
~
Re: Problems with the demo
It is the case though.
Fortunately the game itself seems not to require SSE2... but you can better forget about MP if you happen to have an Athlon XP processor, untill this problem is patched. (If ever)

Gents,
I'm in the same boat too...

espite having all the requirements in terms of Radedon 9550 graphics card, a 939 socket AMD processor (according to Wiki), enough RAM, correct drivers, and multiple downloads and re-installations of the demo, I still get a
"medieval2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." reply...
I'm more patient than technical, so understand the cause to be either;
1, the phase of the moon
2, high voltage power lines
3, Microsoft
Could someone with a little more computer literacy help?
Astonkiller, I'm a noob too... Only recently found out what a USB port was!
To answer...
SSE2 is a mark that the Government puts on you a few hours after your born.
It can be found by pulling down your lower left eyelid whilst looking in the mirror.
You can enter the code you find on the link below...

Hope this helps?

There's a new demo, does that one still require SSE2?
Re: Problems with the demo
Re: Problems with the demo
I think it does Tosa, at least the demo in the magazine (not sure which one) states that SSE2 is required. Not sure about the downloadable one

Re: Problems with the demo
The first demo (ca. 480MB) does require SSE2.
The second one (ca. 700MB), labeled Gold and including the Otumba battle does not.

In the blog on multiplayer, Palamedes said M2TW would be more stable in multiplayer than RTW/BI. Later he posted that AthlonXP would not be supported for multiplayer. He didn't say what would happen if an AthlonXP user tried to play online with non-AthlonXP users.
