What about these guilds? (i think they are guilds) Does ayone manage to get them? I wonder if they only show up after many successfull crusades. Is that right? With these guilds, can you recruit Templars? What about Teutonics? Hospitalers?

Well after receiving a fortress on Baltic I was asked if I want to build a minor Teutonic Guild.
The teutonics might only be available to the HRE, I did get an offer from the hospitallers for a chapter house which I accepted even though I really wanted the templars.
I had completed one crusade.
Anyone know what determines wether you get an offer for any of the chapter houses?
Yep, you can recruit the relevant knights. They seem to be a bit tougher than the normal ones so far anyway.
Looks like you get them for successfully completing a crusade.
I don't think you even need to complete a crusade.
My English crusading army was about two turns away from Antioch when the Venetians took it, and, a bit short of cash as I was thanks to the Black Death (took me by suprise a bit, that. From raking in money I was -30,000 within two turns...), thought I'd do a bit of Egyptian sacking. Anywho, took and kept Gaza and within a couple of tunes I'd been offered one of the orders.
I was able to recruit templars in Inverness in scotland when i took the settlement...
I think you need both a good castle, and a character with either the templar or hospitallier trait. I had crusade leader that got both these traits, and in a few turns offers of these orders sprung up accros my realm.
One of my characters actually has the Grand Master of the Hospitallers in his retinue. He's pretty good, +2 Command and +2 Chivalry, I think.
I think you just have to join a crusade ... but i'd completed one and got 2 retinue members 1 of hospitilar and 1 of templar aswell. Also found that by winning a battle with a crusading army you get the retinue members.
The the chapter houses were offered after the crusade, the hosipitilar house comes with a nice public health bonus I captured a fortress with a Sanitiago chapter house but the units weren't available (i'm english).
Templars if i'm right haven't yet offered me a chapter house, I have several hospitilar ones.
Also has anyone had any experiences with converting a castle to a city and keeping the swordssmith? This happened to me and i wondered if the chapter houses would supply troops still once a in city not a fortress?
Teutonic Knights are HRE only.
England can get Templars and Hospitalers.
Spain and Portugal Knights of Santiago.
Dunno about the other catholic factions.
They all have attack: 13 defense: 16 charge: 8 and some skills like stamina, moral etc.
You can see which faction can recruit which knight order in the unit rooster of custom battles.
Btw the chapter houses are all the same, exept the biggest hospitalers which have the additional benefit of +15% to health.
I was offered a Templar Chapter House in the city of Rennes as the English, without having done a single crusade or the like. Needless to say, Templars formed the backbone of my first crusade when I did get around to doing one...
I had a character with traits Hospitaller and Templar knight, and also had a succesful crusade and held antioch for a LONG time, also had a couple of castles of the highest level, and still no chapter houses... Maybe i should have gone on a muslim killing spree?
I'm not certain about this, but aren't those treated as guild houses? You can only have a single guild house in a city, and it has to be at least minor city in size. So if all your cities already have guild houses, you won't ever get offered any. So far, I've accepted two merchants guilds, two assassins, one thieves and one explorers guild. I've got master merchant, assassin and thieves guilds, but I'm not accepting any more duplicate guilds in my other cities. I'm going to hold out for different ones.
Any ideas on how to get the Knights of Santiago?

Yes, that's correct. Chapter Houses are counted as guild halls, but the circumstances for being offered one of the military orders in the first place are slightly obscure.Quote:

Are you sure that only english can get Knights Templar? It so weird... cuz this order was historicaly created for 9 french knights...
Speaking of guilds, what excatly are the benefits of Explorer guilds? And how can you get woodsman guild?
I got a woodsman guild when playing the english. It appeared in Nottingham which was very cool, I got complaints later by the local Sheriff but who cares! :laugh4:
Are you sure about that? It appears to be empirically true, but I could not find it in the manual (the manual says one level 2 guild per faction, and one level 3 guild per world).Quote:

Woodsman and the knights chapters are only for castles (or they can only be built in castles and once changed to city they seem to stay i.e. my swordsmith stayed in a converted city). I got the woodsman in toulouse castle after building a archery range that produced retinue yeomanry (as english needs fortress upgrade i think).
As said above you must have no other chapter/guild in the city or castle.
Explorers guild gets you trade routes to india and china i think and possibly to the new world (if Spainish??).
Explorers Guild gives your armies increased movement rates. I don't know if it's just within a radius of the guild hall, just within your borders, or globally, but it makes a noticable difference in movement speeds. I now have two of these, 1 in Iasi and one on Rhodes. I got a Theologians Guild in Iconium last night.
I'm not 100% positive that you can't have more than one guild per city, but I'm 99% certain that's the case. If I have an eligible city without a guild, at least every couple of turns I get a popup offering me one guild to establish there. Once they all have guild halls, no more popups.
Knights orders aren't limited to castles, in fact I only get them offered for cities.
You can only have one guild per city.
Knightly Orders and the Woodsman's Guild are the only guilds that can be established in castles - they can also appear in cities, or at least the Orders can. Can't speak for the Woodsman's Guild, but I'd be surprised if it couldn't.

Their available for any city/castle if your the correct faction. It's seems rather random atm. I've gotten a hospitillars in jerusalem and a templars in dublin :inquisitive: . We'll have to wait till the patch to check out the export_descr_strat_guilds txt. to see if it really is purely random.Quote:
