Thanks devichat.
Of the castles you've seen, which is the most impressive? Which is most pleasing to the eye? From your pictures, Nakatsu strikes me as most pleasing, I think due to its placement with the surrounding terrain (small hill or hillside?).
Re: Pics of Japanese castles
I agree Gregoshi - Nakatsu looks the most impressive from the pics.
Just wondering devichat, when you go to visit these castles do they have weaponry on display?
Cos.....you guessed it....it'd be cool to see some pics!
Fancy a career in photography to keep us Shogun fans happy???

I love the placement of Kawahara castle - the view from up there is magnificent!!
Nakatsu castle is next to a big river, but the land is not particularly sloping on the other sides.
They say Osaka and Himeji castles are among the top 3 to visit in Japan (can't remember the 3rd one).
And, Matrixman, yes I have pics of some swords and other weapons, but most are bad because of the reflection from the glass cases.
I'll see what's presentable & put them up.
Re: Pics of Japanese castles
Hey devichat, I'll look forward to seeing those weapon pics when you have time to post them.
Thanks for taking the trouble to do it.

Re: Pics of Japanese castles
devichat, you picked a good camera angle for the first picture of Nakatsu castle as it looks like it is hanging on the edge of a drop off (ignore the road there...). That makes it look pretty cool.
Re: Pics of Japanese castles
Thanks for the comments guys.
Have run into a problem - my AC adapter for the laptop died & I have to find out if I can buy it & get it shipped here. After that I have to get my thesis done by Christmas.
I will try to post if I get the time before then, but I am not promising.
