Ok.
From what I understand this Cataphract did not have metal armor on his legs or arms. Those individual overlapping pieces that protected his limbs were made of leather. Now I'm not an expert on this Cataphract, I read this in John Warry's book, Warfare in the Classical World (I can cite the page if necessary). Now don't get offended, I'm simply making sure something wasn't overlooked. I'm not saying I am correct, just wondering what sources tell you guys the limb armor is made out of metal, and not leather.

Fallen, turn to page 154 of John Warry's book. Look down under the Parthian Archer. There you will see a wonderful recreation of a parthian cataphract that is almost identical to EB's except for the lack of a chain piece over his face and some other minor details.

And for that matter, as far as my logic goes if you could make those laminate limb defenses out of leather there's no reason why you couldn't equally make them out of metal (aside from the weight and expense - but then cataphract harness scores "abusive" on both in any case). The Romans apparently made use of similar design for special purposes too (ie. Trajanus' Dacian wars and the additional arms defences to cut down (sic) amputations by falx...), and as IIRC that model was for a late elite bodyguard type unit expense would hardly be an issue.

Yes, that cataphract is the late elite bodyguard unit of the Parthian kings.

Warry's book does state, in that very caption, that later cataphracts used metal rather than leather.

Based on the posts, as I have read them, it appears that, indeed, that possibility was overlooked.
But, TA and Fallen851 and all others out there, as I didn't want to insult anyone in any way, to me yes it is.
So I'll readily apologize to you, Fallen851, for this matter. This makes twice then in less than 24 hours...
