Yeoman archers for the english - any good?

I see the yeoman archers are an upgrade for the longbowmen for the english. Are those archers better then the longbowmen?

If you compare the stats there is a marginal increase. I usually bypass them ad go straight to Retinue Longbowmen

Well they have +2 to their missile skill and a good increase in melee for the same upkeep cost so i think they are a worthy upgrade.In my current campaign i dont have the facilities to build retinues yet so i use the yeoman a lot.You will find them a good upgrade from the regular longbow unit.
