To

traits Drink 1 , Arse 1 , Brave 1 , TacticalSkill 1 , CounterSpy 1 , Handsome 1 , TouchedByTheGods 1 , Intelligent 1 , Factionleader 1 , Immortal 1
army
unit alexander exp 1 armour 2 weapon_lvl 0

unit hypaspists exp 0 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
unit companion cavalry exp 0 armour 2 weapon_lvl 0
unit companion cavalry exp 0 armour 2 weapon_lvl 0
unit javelin skirmishers exp 0 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0

Re: Making armies with more than one general
I don't have Alexander so I'm afraid to post in case it's completely wrong. I'd like to know which file this is in, descr_battle.txt?
Re: Making armies with more than one general
Re: Making armies with more than one general
Do you actually have examples in vanilla Alexander descr_strat where you could put more than one general in same position?
sorry if that's dumb question but I'm not sure how many here actually have Alexander and that's something you definitely couldn't do in RTW/BI!
If there is an existing example please could you post that so we can compare with yours....
Re: Making armies with more than one general
No theres not any and as I added new generals into it I removed them just to see and the game started fine so it's these bits of text thats the problem.
Code:
character Ptolemeos, named character, age 23, , x 12, y 49
traits Brave 1 , Loyal 2 , Intelligent 1 , GoodDefender 2 , GoodCommander 2
army
unit greek general's guard cavalry early exp 0 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
siege_equipment sap_point 10
character Hephaestion, named character, age 20, , x 11, y 49
traits Brave 1 , Loyal 2 , Intelligent 1 , GoodDefender 2 , GoodCommander 2
army
unit greek general's guard cavalry early exp 0 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
siege_equipment sap_point 10
character Cassander, named character, age 21, , x 12, y 48
traits Brave 1 , Loyal 2 , Intelligent 1 , GoodDefender 2 , GoodCommander 2
army
unit greek general's guard cavalry early exp 0 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
siege_equipment sap_point 10
character Craterus, named character aged 32, , x 20, y 45
traits Brave 1 , Loyal 2 , Intelligent 1 , GoodDefender 2 , GoodCommander 2
army
unit greek general's guard cavalry early
siege_equiptment sap_point 10
Re: Making armies with more than one general
You will have a CTD, because the name of the new generals, the game will find the names as troops and if it isnt exist, you will have an error. Try to repleace: unit hypaspists exp 0 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
to this:
unit greek general's guard cavalry early exp 0 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
It doesnt help, because you will start with an general bodyguard.
I will continue tomorrow.
Re: Making armies with more than one general
I got the name of the Greek general from parmenion which works I'll try and see.
Re: Making armies with more than one general
The game worked even when I tried to split the generals up into 4 small armies.
Re: Making armies with more than one general
Uhhm... siege_equipment, portraits... how good mods could have been made on RTW 1.9 if people would have bought it. As for the feature you are talking about, if you will really be able to put more then one general per army at the beginning, then like I said... Alexander worths modding...
But I never heard of more then one named character per army at start.
Arbaces.
Re: Making armies with more than one general
When I tried that it never worked it always said can't attach alexander of macedon to alexander of macedon for instance. How would you stop sparta being so annoying and stop them rebelling?
