I can't find a way to produce elephants. I remember from 0.74 beta that elephants could only be produced at Cirta - but now they appear to have gone all together!
I have built everything at Carthage, and have conquered the whole of North Africa. Many provinces have the elephant resource - but no elephants.
What am I doing wrong. Please give me some advice.

Think you gotta build lvl 4s in the interior provinces, that is what I do at least. Building the highest level govenrment building isn't always the best, build the lvls 1 and 2s for provinces more "Carthaginian" or trader style, build lvl 4 in the "auxiliaries" "tributary" areas like inner spain / numidia for their local troops.
With either a Type 1 or Type 2 Government, you should be able to build a Level 3 Faction MIC that will allow for the recruitment of African Forest Elephants in the provinces shown below. If that is NOT the case, let me know.Quote:

Like Kull points out, Elephants aren't from Carthage, they're from the Atlas Mountains west of Carthage. You should be able to get them there.
In Numidia/Cirta I have a level 1 government (client state, 300 mnai, 1 turn) and a level 4 MIC. No elephants.

You have confound the Core Building (Governour Villa, and so on) which needs to be upgraded regarding to the sice of the city, with the EB Government buildings.

Exactly two turns later I stroll through the city square toward the Armory, but three streets before I get there, my ears and nose tell me what lies ahead. And sure enough, they do not lie. For there they are, an entire squadron of elephants patiently awaiting my arrival, tails and trunks swaying from side to side.
So for anybody who wants Carthaginian elephants, please head off to Ippone at once. I'd REALLY like for somebody to take them off my hands as they are damned expensive, have stripped my fruit trees bare, trampled the vegetables, and ruined the lawn. To say nothing of the flies and the odors that draw them like, well, you know. Worst of all, the mistress is not pleased, and we all know what that means!

it seems he just built the wrong government :book:
As we've explained elsewhere, Building Conditionals are no longer possible for units. In v.74 he would have needed a Type 1 or 2, but it's handled differently in the v.80 build. Government Types control the number of MIC Levels, and anything other than a Carthie Type 4 will allow a MIC Level 3 to be built. So unless he's been uniformly unlucky or careless in his government choices, it's hard to imagine how he's been unable to build elephants.Quote:
